VMS: KFC Zinger Double Down, Makati

We've been a fan of the Original KFC Double Down so when we heard that KFC was introducing a new one, we couldn't wait to try it out.

Zinger Double Down along EDSA
With a billboard this big, what other signs do you need? :) So we gave in and ordered delivery.

Zinger Packaging
It comes in a paper wrapping with cardboard on the side. A bit plain if you ask me. But on to the important part. How it tastes!

VMS: Brothers Burger, Paseo De Magallanes Makati

Craving burgers for dinner, we perused the net for selections. Luckily, we came across Brother's Burgers Anniversary Deal. With a bargain like that, who can pass on it?

Too lazy to go out, we had someone order it for take out. :)

There came a time when we stopped patronizing Brother Burger. Instead of the usual hot & consistently yummy burgers, they were serving below par food with a high price tag. Tsk tsk. That was a deadly combination.

But we decided to give it another chance.

Brothers Burger + Softdrinks in Can
We couldn't wait to sink our teeth in as we excitedly unwrapped them. Questions were zippin through our mind... How would they fare? Have they improved?

We were about to find out.

ATM: Happy Feet 2 at Greenbelt 3 Cinema

Welcome to our first ever Movie Night Review!

We were lucky enough to snag tickets for Happy Feet 2 at Greenbelt 3 last night. Thanks JM! We were almost late, arriving 5 mins before the 7pm screening. Good thing that the movie starts at 7:30pm. Phew.

Premiere Tickets

There was no reserved seating but no worries, the line wasn't that long. He did not watch the first Happy Feet so we gave him a refresher course about Mumble and the gang.

It's a story of a penguin named Mumble who had to go through life being different. He met others along the way that helped him accept who he is and go home to where he belongs. He learned that being different is not bad and that everyone's unique in his own way.
Lining up for the movie

While waiting for the line to move, I was looking around for posters or banners to take more pictures but sadly, I couldn't see any. :(

Asian Fusion at Little Asia, The Venice Piazza Makati

Wanting to unwind after a stressful day, we decided to use our vouchers. We have never been to The Venice Piazza so this was a good time as any to try it out.

Little Asia, The Venice Piazza
At 7 in the evening on a weekday, I must say that the place was buzzing with activity. Unlike their Promenade branch, this one looks like a keeper, at least for now. We made reservations and expected to be seated right away, but alas this was no different from our J&Y experience.

We had to wait outside for 15 minutes. This was definitely not a good start.

After sweating bullets, we were finally called to our table.

Light fixtures with HUGE mirrors
Bubbles! :)

As you enter, you'll notice right away that this is different from the GH branch. With the super high ceiling and elaborate fixtures, this place up the ante a little bit. It was giving off a vibe of luxury and class. Kudos to that.

The Old & The New at Kimpo Teahouse, Banawe QC

Coming from the Warehouse Sale, we were all tired and hungry. Wanted to eat somewhere familiar and casual, nothing fussy. We drove to Han Pao but what welcomed us instead was something bigger and brighter.

Kim Po Teahouse, Banawe St Quezon City
The spacious parking was a cause for celebration. No more having to park at other nearby restaurants and to quickly run inside Han Pao, hoping that the guard did not see. Haha. But seriously, thumbs up for this.

VMS: Mann Hann

Bummed out with the fact that I had to stay at home and miss our B session. Doctor's orders was to rest but his orders was bed rest. Managed to sneak a bit of blog time before he finds out! :)

A knock on the door and surprise, this was waiting for me.

Take Out from Mann Hann
What goodies were in store? I couldn't wait for him to get home. Yup, I was that hungry!

Yang Chow Fried Rice
As soon as I opened the container, the wonderful aroma soon filled the air. The Yang Chow Fried Rice was good enough for 3-4 people. It looked really yummy. As I dug in, I was able to taste the egg, shrimp, veggies and ham. This was already a meal in itself. I managed to eat half of this by myself. Goodbye diet!

Late Dinner Dimsum at King Chef, Banawe St Quezon City

FS Update: Aside from the fact that they only serve hakaw during the weekends, they also raised the prices. Hakaw is now Php 55 per order. Add the bad service we got from a server named Art, we're definitely bringing our business back to Causeway instead.

************************************************************************************************************
Coming straight from a massage session, we were looking for a place to eat. We all voted for dim sum. Of course the first restaurant that came into mind was Causeway. But it was already 11:00pm, all the dim sums would've been sold out when we get there. Someone suggested this  new place....

Welcome to King Chef

A bold name, I must say.

King Chef, Banawe Quezon City
With it's ample parking lot, you'll have no trouble finding a space for your car. They separate the fine dining from dim sum. Is this becoming the new restaurant trend? Hmmm...

While waiting for the dim sum cart, I pretty much amused myself taking photos of the restaurant's interior. With the open-bar like structure in front, the kitchen window where ducks were hanging on the pegs and the bright lights, this was a stark contrast from Causeway.

VMS: Brooklyn Pizza, Makati

Prepping up for a movie night, we had to order the perfect movie night snack: PIZZA!

We stayed away from this restaurant for the longest time because of a bad incident that happened before... IMPOLITE STAFF + UNHELPFUL MANAGER = THUMBS DOWN SERVICE.

But we decided to give them another chance.

Brooklyn Pizza, Makati

As far as I can remember, Brooklyn Pizza was the first one to offer half pizzas for delivery. They were also the ones who pioneered the "different flavors on one pizza"

Midnight Snack Time at Bubble Tea, Wilson St Greenhills

After a grueling exercise session, we wanted something cool and refreshing to drink. With it's bright lights and pretty facade, we knew this was our stop.

Going in... :)
Can you say brimming with life? The whole place lights up like a Christmas tree. Inviting and cozy, the perfect tambayan place. White chairs and booths lined up the restaurant. Hmm.. couldn't wait to order.

Yummy-niku at Tajimaya, SM Mall of Asia

Bad news folks! Tajimaya implemented it's new eat-all-you-can rule: NO MORE ICE CREAM INCLUDED! :(

************************************************************************************************************
Our first choice for the night was actually Dampa since we were craving for tempura. In the end, we scheduled that for another time. Heard so much about Tajimaya at SM MOA that finally, we decided that it was time to take the plunge. With empty stomachs, we were bracing ourselves for an all-you-can-eat food adventure.

Tajimaya, SM Mall of Asia
Up close
We've eaten at a lot of eat-all-you-can buffets and frankly, they were all disappointing. So you can understand why we were hesitant to try this out.

Lighting our way...
As you enter, you'll notice a flaming chalice atop a wooden pedestal. Loved how the fake flames were flickering, I just had to take a picture of it.

Booths
What surprised me the most is that the restaurant was spacious. The booths were secluded and roomy. They were also coral-like panels that separate each table seating to another. Intimate and cozy, just the way we like it.

Also, the acoustics of the place was really great, you can talk amongst yourselves and not hear from the other tables. Ahhh.. bliss. Double thumbs up for that! :)

VMS: Yellow Cab, Makati

Not wanting to eat heavy (since it's 11pm already.. yikes!), we decided to just order take out from one of our usual pizza places.

Yellow Cab
Before I go on to our pizza review, I would like to share some of the problems we encountered with Yellow Cab.

First instance: The delivery man couldn't find our house that he resorted to using the phone at our village's guard house. Tsk tsk. I had to talk to the guard and have him escort the delivery man to our house. Result? Pizza was cold. The sad part? This was not our first time to order delivery from this branch.

Another time, it was the branch itself that had problems. They called us up to ask where their delivery man was... . ummm there's literally no words to describe their incompetence.

Dear FS Readers...

As we head towards the end of the month, we are having our first ever month-end food recap. We were fortunate enough to review different restaurants for you.. with almost half of them receiving FS thumbs down.

From the John & Yoko fiasco to Gloria Maris' subpar service, it seems like big name restaurants are the ones having problems.

Lots of firsts introduced this month:

* First  REVISTED REVIEW

* First VMS post

* First Birthday celebration post

.. and reviews of other familiar food spots scattered all over the metro.

Here's to hoping you'll continue to make us a part of your food adventures, tummy travels and tongue cravings.
