It was buffet night at Cafe Ilang Ilang, Manila Hotel.

Loved the gold plated signage by the door! |
 |
Function Room for private events! |
We specifically went there on a Friday for their Steak Night Special (Php 2,950++ net/ person).
Like in other hotels, Cafe Ilang Ilang divided cuisines in sections or stations. It was a bit confusing though since some sections were placed behind walls or cramped in a corner.
Here's some snapshots of the place.....

Their carving station offered various meats to choose from.
And here's what we had on our plate....
 |
Lobster with Scallops on the side |
The lobsters were fresh and cooked quite well. The scallops were fresh as well. The creamy sauce that came along with it was a bit on the bland side.
 |
Prime Rib with Red Wine Sauce and Asparagus, Mashed Potato & Kamote Fries on the side |
The meat was tough to chew, had a bit of rubbery texture to it. The red wine sauce was also lacking in flavor. The asparagus spears, mashed potatoes & kamote fries fared better.
 |
3-layer Chocolate Cake |
I''ve never liked dark chocolate but this was simply too pretty to pass up. The white choco chunks and the strawberry on top were such a nice touch. Its taste though was altogether a different matter. This was disappointing. The chocolate was bitter and the texture was too crumbly. :(
 |
Mango Cake |
I'm really a sucker for nice plating. This was another work of art. Sadly, flunked the flavor meter.
Overall, I have to say that Cafe Ilang Ilang was not bad but could've been better.
