Burgers and Wings at Sweet Ecstasy, Uptown Parade, BGC, Philippines

I've had it with those patties piled high with "extenders" (tomatoes, mayo, cheese, cucumbers), leaving you feeling full with no memory of the beef. Sometimes, you just need to sink your teeth into a good-old-fashion burger with less the trimmings.

Here's how no frills this place is; once you step up inside you'll see this takeout window that acts as their order counter. But don't worry, they cook your food as you order so you get them hot off the grill.

After having our fill of their "unique" interiors, our orders arrived.

And 'coz their menu highlighted their Burgers and Wings, we took the hint and ordered those.

Cheeseburger (Php 195)

Keeping it simple, Hubby went for their Cheeseburger. This is beef patty with lettuce, cheese & tomatoes all held together by soft buns marked with an X, just in case you forget that you're sampling one of Sweet Ecstasy's creations. I was actually looking for the wow factor but this just didn't have it. A decent enough burger but is certainly not the star of the show.


Steamed Burger (Php 205)

Then we shift our attention to their off-the-menu selection, the Steamed Burger. It didn't look like much but once you bite into it, you'll realize steamed burgers are the future. The beef flavor just bursts in your mouth as you wipe your chin clean of the meat juices. Now this is a burger. 

Sriracha Lime (Php 245)

Wings that were too thin and coated in sticky orange sriracha sauce with hints of lime just didn't do much for me.  It was too late when I realized that we should've gotten their off-the-menu Wingception instead. 

Any one can slap on beef patties in between pieces of bun and call them burgers but it takes a special kind of awesome when done right. And for now, Sweet Ecstasy's Steamed Burgers is that special kind of yum.
