As the clock struck 12:30am of February 14, 2013, we found ourselves walking along Greenbelt. We always believed in doing things different and so to make it more special, we had our first Vday Meal, crepes from Cafe Breton.
Yup, we started with desserts! ;) Blueberries & Cream for Hubby; La Pinay for me. Definitely a good start for our Valentines celebration.
Morning came and we had this as our mid-morning snack courtesy of Potato Corner. We munched on sticks of Ranch O' Cheddar. Yum!
Fast forward to dinner and we wanted to go back to something familiar, quiet and simple. Didn't want to go far so we set our sights to restaurants in Glorietta or Greenbelt. Settled on H & E (aka Heaven & Eggs).
H & E, Glorietta 4
The swings were gone :( and the home-y feel was replaced with metallic hues and yellow couches.
At least their menu still had the whimsical vibe.
Rock You Like Hurricane (Php 365) |
Upon our server's suggestion, we went with their Rock You Like Hurricane. We had the beef tenderloin cooked medium well. You get to have it with rice or mashed potatoes; went with the potatoes. FS Verdict? An okay dish. The beef was cooked just right and the mashed potatoes was a delight. FS Recommendation? Pile on the gravy.
Manila Ribs, 2011 (Php 325) |
This was our comfort food once upon a time. When Heaven & Eggs Glorietta got a makeover, we sorely missed this dish. Time to see if this was still as good as we remembered. Pardon the picture, we were placed in a dark part of the restaurant.
The spareribs were juicy and tender. The orange java rice was a nice complement to the dish, both to the eyes & the palate. The salted egg was a nice touch. FS verdict? Not as great as I remembered but not bad. FS Recommendation? Ask for more sauce.
For our side dish, we ordered the Just Pancakes.
Just Pancakes To Share (Php 135) |
Sad to say this wasn't light or floppy as promised. Sigh. This was thick and the taste bordered on being bland. Even after loading up on the butter & maple, this took a long while for us to finish. Add the fact that they no longer serve their special syrups (pineapple, coconut), this was a disappointment.
We finished by 8:30pm; just in time for the Starbucks event at 6750. With Caramel Frappe ventis and a snapshot for remembrance, we called it a night ;)
