Chinese New Year 2013 at Romulo Cafe, Jupiter Street Makati

Eating out with friends is always a good thing. The foodie in me knew that GOOD FOOD = A GOOD TIME. Had to make sure that the place would be comfy, fun & yum.

This was the first dinner with Hubby's barkada since.... I can't remember.
Yup, it's been that long. ;)

The place to catch up was at Romulo Cafe, Jupiter Street.

Romulo Cafe, Jupiter Street
We've been here before (To read about our previous review, click here & here) and our favorite food from their menu never disappoints. Dinner was set at 7:30pm. The server guided us to their "basement" dining area. Cool! ;)

Cheese and Vigan Longganisa Dumplings (Php 145)
First up, with V's recommendation, we got 2 of this. This was crunchy but was not able to taste any of the cheese. FS Verdict? Okay lang.

Crispy Squid Heads (Php 200)

With J's recommendation, we had 2 of this. The chili-honey-garlic glaze was yum. The crunchiness was also a win for me. FS Verdict? Liked this better than the longganisa dish.

Flying Tilapia (Php 350)
Not really a fan of fish that's been butterfly-ed like this. The tilapia meat always seems lesser and sure enough, this was not enough for the table. FS Verdict? Nothing special. Even the sauces were quite forgettable.

Crispy Tadyang (Php 450)
This was way better than the Tilapia, maybe it's just the carnivore in me speaking ;) This was crispy on the outside, tender & juicy pork on the inside. On of the better Tadyang's I've had. FS Verdict? Romulo's Crispy Tadyang is certainly something to come back for.

Bagoong Rice (Php 145)
Serving is good for 2-3 people. We ordered 7 of this for a party of 11 and still had lots left over. Taste-wise? This was just okay. I was looking for the strong bagoong flavor but Romulo's version was a bit faint. FS Verdict? I'm on the fence on this one; not bad but not good.

Boneless Crispy Pata (Php 650)
Crunchy Crispy Pata is Hubby's weakness, add the fact that it's boneless and we're there. ;) This our ultimate favorite food from Romulo. The diced tomatoes not only serve as eye decor, it adds flavor to the meat. With its crackling crunchy skin, this is the clear winner of the night. FS Verdict? Still yum. Good job Romulo! ;9 Our 4 orders of this were all consistently good stuff.

Another dish we had that night was their Mixed Bicol Express. Unfortunately, I wasn't able to take a picture. FS Verdict? The veggies were a bit limp. Flavor-wise? Limp as well. Not one of their best.

And for the night cap, we headed out across the street for our cups of Starbucks Coffee.
