Crepe Cravings at Cafe Breton, Greenbelt

A surprise visit from a friend resulted to a late night snack. We headed to Greenbelt and went straight to one of our favorite comfort food (aka desserts! :>) haunts.

Cafe Breton, Greenbelt Makati

We were thinking this was the perfect spot to just talk and catch up for hours but alas, when we got there it was packed to the rafters! At 11pm, Cafe Breton was still buzzing with activity and diners that we had to wait for awhile to be seated. There were lots of other restaurants that had available seats but we really had our heart set to eat here so we waited... and waited...

At last, we were called in.

Inside, you'll see that the crepe station employs the "open kitchen" method. You'll mouth water as they shape the crepe mixture into a circle, wait for it to cook then fold it up and voila... into your tummy it goes. The interior somewhat reminds you of the older sundae cafes with a home-y feel to it. The menu and the decor certainly evokes that cozy familiarity of home. Hmm... and blue seems to be their favorite color.

Galette Paysanne
Because of the long wait outside,  my stomach began to rumble. I decided to order the Galette Paysanne. It's an open-faced crepe with Hungarian sausage, egg, asparagus, onions & cheese sauce.  I really ♥love♥ this dish. The sausage was cooked perfectly with enough spiciness to make your mouth tingle. The onions were tender & soft, a contrast to the coarse texture of the sausage.  The asparagus & egg completes this meal, giving a breakfast feel to it. The thin crepe underneath was soft & moist. But the real winner here was the cheese sauce, the perfect complement to the whole dish. YUM!

On to the crepes! :)

Blueberries & Cream
This is one massive crepe (well, at least compared to the La Pinay)! As you cut into it, the French vanilla oozes out, filling your plate with orange (yes, French vanilla ice cream is orange) goodness. Topped with blueberries and dollops of whipped cream and a sprinkle of powdered sugar, this is definitely a must try. And believe me, it tastes as good as it looks! Verdict? A+

La Pinay
The first thing I noticed was, hey how come this came out on a different plate but that did not stop me from digging into this yummy dessert. It's the simplest crepe on the menu but it doesn't scrimp on taste. With mango slices inside, a scoop of ice cream on top & squirts of chocolate sauce zigzagging on the plate, what more can you ask for but.... seconds please! :)
