A Revisited Review of Romulo Cafe.
Yes, this is fast becoming a Sunday dinner hotspot. Everyone was in the mood for something new. What other dishes did Romulo have to offer?
Lengua (Php 275) |
Definitely not for the faint-hearted. This dish is made from ox tongue. Romulo's version used red wine as sauce. Verdict? Did not like it. The meat was soft but the taste was a bit weird. The olives gave off a funky aftertaste. Conti's way better.
Baby Pusit in Garlic (Php 250) |
Gave this dish a benefit of a doubt, maybe it was actually more complex and elaborate than what was written. Sadly, it was exactly that. Looked too rustic. Passed on trying this one.
Pinaputok na Tilapia (Php 350) |
I was actually looking forward to this dish. I was really hoping that this was going to be the piece-de-resistance of the evening. The presentation got me excited, couldn't wait to unwrap it.... and then I saw this. Hmmm... It didn't look anything special, a bit plain actually. People at the table were raving about it. I just had to take their word for it.
The new dishes were a bust. We ended up stocking on our Romulo favorites. :)
One complaint though, the sauces of both Crispy Pata & Chicken were not included in the take out container. Tsk tsk. Major mistake by the serving staff.
