Food-Stars Goes to Tagaytay: Tootsie's Home-cooked Specialties

Needing a break from the hustle & bustle of Manila, we decided to go on a road trip. With a tank full of gas & snacks for the road, we piled in & headed down the road.

With hours & miles tucked under our belts, we rolled down our windows for a whiff of the cool fresh air.

Sigh... A view like this was enough for us to forget our troubles. We could feel our stress rolling right off our shoulders ;)

Tootsie's Home-Cooked Specialties, J. Abad Santos cor. Aguinaldo Hi-Way  Tagaytay City
J suggested this place for lunch. Our taste buds were ready for the renown Filipino cuisine they had to offer.

Inside
Sunlight poured in from the windows. Wooden tables & chairs made the place feel home-y.
Corner Table
Table Setting
We were lucky to have found seats during the lunch hour rush. FS Suggestion? Make reservations ahead of time. Tootsie's is understaffed especially with a full house, so I suggest you keep your cool & hold onto your patience since their service is in desperate need of improvement.

Pata Pinalutong (PHp 520)
Or simply put, Crispy Pata. Serving is good for 2-3 people. The skin was crunchy & the meat was tender & juicy. FS Verdict? This was surprisingly good. Our meal was off to a good start.

Pancit Bukoh! (Php 175)
This seemed interesting enough. The slivers of coconut meat was cut into noodle-like pieces. Served in a buko shell (of course) and calamansi for that citrus-y kick. FS Verdict? It was something new, perhaps too new. We were soon feeling that umay feeling of coconut. It didn't offer anything else really. Sadly, not my cup of tea.
Roast Chicken Kawi (Php 305)
Roasted chicken served with fries & veggies on the side. FS Verdict? A bit ordinary, nothing special.

Kansi Bulalo (Php 485)
With the cool breeze, we wanted something hot to warm our bellies. Ordering Bulalo came into mind. Served in a black clay pot, we couldn't wait to dig in. Imagine our surprise when instead of the clear soup we're accustomed to, what came out was this orange soup concoction. After almost 20 mins of waiting for the staff to take our orders & the endless follow ups, they still managed to screw our order up. We ordered the regular version & this is what ended up on our table. Grabe Tootsie's, for a place that's known to be a restaurant go-to in Tagaytay, this mistake was truly disappointing!

Your bad service + wrong order made us write this place off our list. Sorry but even your Pata Pinalutong was not enough to make us come back.
