Brunch Getaway at Breakfast at Antonio's, Tagaytay City, Philippines

Sometimes you just need to get away from the hustle & bustle of life. A short road trip to Tagaytay seemed the most fitting for this particular drive out the city.

Left at 9:45am and we made good time; arrived at Breakfast at Antonio's at around 11:45.

Was surprised to see that there were still a lot of empty parking spaces.

What's even more surprising was the sight that greeted us once we got inside... We were the only ones there.

We asked to be seated at the table with the best view.

After several attempts, I still couldn't find an angle that showed Taal Volcano at its finest. *Sigh*

Here's a snapshot of their menu.

To start us off, we ordered their Bread Basket (Php 175). This was freshly baked bread that you enjoy with their homemade jams. For this particular morning, the bread basket consisted of Raisin Bread, Wheat Bread, Banana Bread & White Toast.

You get unlimited refills of their Homemade jams. This is Pineapple, Berries & Blackberries. We managed to polish off half of the bread basket while waiting for our entrees. ;p

Here's a bit of a #FoodShot before we start ;)

Portobello Truffle Tagliatelle (Php 520)
Seeing this on the menu put a smile on my face. I know that they don't actually use real truffle but I like the taste of truffle oil so it's a win-win. You get to choose either to have it tossed in olive oil or cream; this is the cream version. Food-Stars Verdict? Creamy  al dente pasta and they weren't stingy on the truffle oil #tummyhappy

Roasted Chicken with Mushroom Chardonnay Sauce (Php  375)

To complete our brunch, we also got this slow-roasted Half Chicken that was covered with some kind of white sauce then topped with french fries. It also comes with your choice of sides either rice or potatoes. Food-Stars Verdict? It was actually visually unappealing. Taste-wise? It was okay but it didn't taste like Chardonnay, more like mushroom sauce.

After getting our tummies full, we decided to check out their mini shop by the exit. You can order their homemade jams here but what piqued our interest was their ensaymada. Ever heard of "Grilled Ensaymada?" Will tell you all about it on our next visit! ;p

Our Tagaytay road trip was just what we needed. Can't wait for our next one! ;)
