Seeing Red at Aveneto Pizzeria Ristorante, Glorietta 3 Makati

Get ready for another FoodStars low-down this time for.....
 Aveneto Pizzeria Ristorante.

By the colors alone, Aveneto was definitely invoking the Italian vibe. At 7:30pm on a Sunday, the place was packed to the rafters. Seems like business was booming.

Tables & Chairs

As you enter, you'll notice that no one will assist you to your seat. I'm thinking, is this like a fast food setup wherein you just sit anywhere you want? After several minutes of trying to get the waiter's attention, we finally got seated. First impression? Place was kinda cramped and the crowd was a bit noisy. Definitely not the place to unwind & relax.

Mural

While waiting for our orders to arrive, I was able to appreciate the mural on one of the walls inside the restaurant. See anyone familiar? :)

Photo wall

Everywhere you look, almost all their walls had pictures of places & buildings from other parts of the world. Not really sure what their theme was but hey, looking at the pictures kept me amused for a few minutes.

Baked Ziti with Hungarian Sausage (Php 315)

Finally, our pasta dish was served. Was expecting something to wow my taste buds but was sadly disappointed. The 3 pieces of Hungarian sausages were sliced into strips for easier eating. The pasta sauce was okay. The garlic bread on the side was ordinary. Overall, the dish lacked flavor, almost bland on the tongue. They were also a bit stingy with the mozzarella cheese.
Verdict? Pass.

Chicken Wings (Php 170)

Our first choice was actually buffalo wings. It was out of stock so we decided to try this out. Bad move on our part. I was waiting to see something special with the chicken, the way they described it on the menu was scrumptious. My first thought was "this looks like any ordinary fried chicken". Where's the exotic herbs & spices? And the rich chili sauce looked like the bottled sauces you can buy from the grocery. At least it was crunchy.
Avento was now 0 for two.

Hawaiian Pizza

The first time they served this, the pizza was not even sliced properly. It will take you several attempts of pulling & cutting just to get your slice so we asked the waiter if we can have it sliced all the way through. This is the time where the night turned from bad to worse. With a funny look the waiter took it back to the kitchen. He placed it back on the table (complete with a smirk) with the pizza slices already inches apart, subtly telling us "Is this sliced enough for you?"  That says something about your staff's attitude. Add to the fact that the pizza didn't look at all appetizing. It tasted the same as it looked, limp and uneven.

Aveneto strike 3... and you're OUT!

If you did your job of ensuring the quality of food that comes out of your kitchen, there would've been no need to have it sliced again. It's not being picky, it's about giving us the quality of food that we pay for. And honestly, how hard is it to slice a pizza properly? We even offered to just hand us the pizza slicer & we'll just slice it ourselves. Serving to a full house is not an excuse. Add the unhelpful & impolite servers, you're now on our hit list of NEVER AGAIN.

No stars for you!
