Wing-ing It at Wingstop, Wilson St Greenhills

We've always been on a lookout for wings that could qualm our tummy cravings. After driving by this place so many times (on the way to our badminton sessions), we decided to give it a try.

Wingstop, Wilson Greenhills
With their bright colored store frontage, you can't miss it. The posters on the door were enough to whet our appetite.

Shabu Shabu Take Two at David's Tea House, A. Venue Makati

One rainy Sunday night with baited breath, we head on to Makati Avenue for dinner. We decided to give this restaurant a 2nd chance.

David's Tea House, A.Venue Mall Makati
For those who know the story, you understand why we were hesitant to go back. That particular bad experience left a really bad taste in our mouths. Suffice to say, they were in great need of a thorough food inspection. But enough of that, let's try to start anew.

David's gives off a bright cozy vibe, with big flower vases adorning the walls and the intricately designed lamps. The light brown/ dark brown interiors with the large mirrors that shows the streets of Makati Ave, makes you feel that you can spend hours just chatting and relaxing here.

S-S-P-P at Chef d' Angelo, Glorietta 5

In the mood for an all-you-can-eat tummy adventure, we decided to head to our newly discovered food spot in Glorietta 5.

Word to the wise: Best to get there early to avoid the dinner rush.

Promo
Chef d' Angelo, Glorietta 5
Theirs is a casual dining restaurant. It's a pay before you eat kind of thing. We head to the cashier and placed our order. For the eat-all-you-can buffet, we were each given a yellow paper bracelet for identification. We also availed their bottomless iced tea (just add 50 pesos).

CAUTION: Don't expect the same treatment with the high-class buffets. Here, everything is self service. And the staff are inattentive, slow and unhelpful

The buffet is laid on a long table and divided into 4 parts:
Soup, Salad, Pizza & Pasta (S-S-P-P).

REVISITED REVIEW: Atsu Atsu Ramen, Araneta Avenue

Just came from Atsu Atsu Ramen availing of their voucher promo

Food Stars's observations:

1. The iced teas had more ice than tea. Tsk tsk. And the glasses were way smaller.

2. The coffee jelly dessert did not have cream.

3. The staff should be trained not to say "free lang 'yan sa Ensogo". Excuse me, we paid for it. Prepaid for it actually. Nakaka-insulto

4. If you're joining a promo (especially if you're bringing back a promo), remember to give the exact same food unless otherwise stated. Nahahalata tuloy na ayaw niyo naman talaga mag-promo.

5. We came back expecting to enjoy our meal.... HUGE DISAPPOINTMENT!

Verdict? Never coming back kahit mag-promo ka pa ulit!

Sweet Desserts at Caffe Ti-Amo, Greenbelt

Coming from a bad dinner, we decided to stop and buy dessert to cool our heads and to cap the night with something sweet.

Caffe Ti-Amo, Greenbelt
This was the first time I heard about this place. It was already 9pm and people were lining up and all seats were occupied. Wow! Business was booming. We just had to try this one out.

Signage
Caffe Ti-Amo gives off a fun and home-y vibe. With bright lights and large windows, the place was certainly inviting.

AYOKO NA JOHN sa John and Yoko, Greenbelt 5

We were expecting to have a fun and exciting birthday celebration... but guess what, we didn't.

Let me welcome you to one of our worst dinners ever!
BOOO !!!
Situated in Greenbelt 5, I was expecting a stellar service... or a good service at least. Tsk tsk. Seems like I set my standards too high.

First complaint: When we arrived, it was jam-packed but we weren't worried. We made reservations a week before and we even re-confirmed it the same night. We arrived 10 mins before our reservation (7pm) and guess what... they gave our table away!  Because, and I quote "Nagdagsaan ang mga tao kaya nabigay ko". Seriously? No apology whatsoever.

Attention John & Yoko, your customer service SUCKS!

Classic Chicken at Kenny Rogers Roasters, Glorietta

Done with work for the night, we decided to relax and unwind in one of the food haunts in Glorietta. Wanted something simple, light & no fuss dining so we ended up here.

Kenny Rogers Roasters, Glorietta
Love the brick-style background of their signage. It gives off a home-y feel. Already knew what to order since back in our college days, we couldn't get enough of their Fiesta & Classic roasted chickens.  :)

Weekend Bonding at Summer Palace, Edsa Shangrila Hotel

One lazy Sunday morning, craving for something different (from the usual mall restaurants & take outs), we headed down to Edsa Shangri-la to our usual dim sum hotspot for lunch.
Summer Palace, Edsa Shangri-la Hotel
As you enter, you'll feel like you're transported to someplace far away from the noisy hustle & bustle of the city life... well almost.
Lights!

With elaborate fixtures such as their hanging lights, you know you're definitely in for a royal treat.  FS Tip: Ask to be seated in the "inner circle" to completely enjoy the Summer Palace experience :)

As the silver cart slowly made it's way to our table, the wonderful aroma of dim sum wafted in the air. What were the glorious wonders hidden under those wooden lids?

Beef 'N Fish at Sizzlin' Pepper Steak, Glorietta 5

Coming from our usual Prestige Lounge hangout, our stomachs began rumbling (even with all the coffees and iced teas haha). After much discussion on where to eat, we decided to choose from one of the restaurants in Glorietta 5. It was a toss between Sbarro and Sizzlin' Pepper Steak... beef won out! :)

Sizzlin' Pepper Steak, Glorietta 5
I know, the window bars are kinda distracting. No choice though, it gets in the way in every angle. Believe me, I tried.

Anyway enough about that, on to the review. :)
Open Air aka No Aircon Section
As you enter, you'll notice that it's quite cramped. The wooden tables & chairs are spaced almost next to each other, leaving little room to maneuver. Their open-air section is more spacious although you'll have to endure the "fresh air" from outside. We chose to sit indoors. :)

VMS: PAOTSIN, SM Makati Food Court

The Attack of the Fatty Foods! :)

Paotsin, SM Makati
Ahhh.. this brings me back to our college days. Paotsin was our comfort food amidst all the hassle and stress of college life. Thesis, reports, group works and all those late night researches... Whew! Glad we're done with that.

Disappointing Night at Gloria Maris, CCP Complex

A Chinese Celebration for a Chinese Birthday. Where else do you hold such a party? For traditional Chinese, the answer is Gloria Maris, CCP Complex.

Gloria Maris Entrance
The red carpet stairs and walled aquariums leads you to a spacious area which can house approximately 200+ guests. Whew! No wonder this restaurant is known for hosting wedding receptions and big birthday parties.

The usual dim yellow lights are littered across the ceiling. The tables are covered with pink & red tablecloths. Napkins shaped like bishop hats adorn the tables.  For intimate functions, you can have them set up screen separators for more privacy. Major gripe? Our table napkins and tablecloths have holes! Tsk tsk. For a classy and big restaurant such as this, that is a big no-no. Should've known that this was a sign of bad things to come. Sigh.

Buffy-ed at Chuck's Deli, Serendra

Heard of this place from a friend who really enjoyed eating here (Thanks for the heads up, Joseph!). We were planning to try this out when this came out. Talk about luck! :)

Chuck's Deli, Serendra
Situated at the end of the Serendra rotunda, it's the one with the red shutters and glass windows. Looks homey from the outside.

Just Like In School
You'll notice that the whole restaurant is covered with blackboards, all in different shapes and sizes.  Written are their new dishes (adobo dobol, pastas, milkshakes) and their mechanics on how to join their Slay the Buffy. Oh and they have their Wall of Fame! Those who have successfully done the 5-min challenge.

Note to self: Gotta Slay The Buffy!

Birthday Bash at Chili's Greenhills

To celebrate a friend's birthday, we were invited to have dinner at Chili's Greenhills last Saturday (October 1, 2011).

Chili's Greenhills
With it's big chili logo and bright red light, you can't miss it.
Birthday dinner with friends + alcohol = a hell of a good time! :)

Welcome sign
Just in case you forgot where you are, there is a large blackboard that welcomes you to Chili's. Their friendly and attentive staff is right there to greet you and help you to your table. It was 8:30pm on a Saturday night and business was booming!

Dinner Date at Mey Lin, Makati

Tired of our usual Jupiter Street eateries, we decided to go back to our old favorite, Mey Lin.

Mey Lin Bistro, Jupiter St. Makati
With ample parking spaces in the building's basement, you'll have no trouble parking your car. Ride the elevator up to the ground floor, get off, walk to the main entrance,  turn right and voila!

P.S. don't forget to have your ticket validated!
