Dear FS Readers...

All the presents have been opened
Some used some broken
Belts move one notch from before
All the food are gone... no more.

St. Nick has come and gone,
So has Father Time of twenty and double one.
Decors & trees taken down
Brows furrowing, lips turning into a frown

But don't be sad, don't be blue
Coz we have something in store for you.
Welcome to a new & exciting year
Time for another round of wine and beer :)

Snacking on Healthy at Gourmet To Go, Rustan's Makati

Tired from walking around all day, our tummies began rumbling. Wanted something new, fresh and light to eat (we had a b-match later that evening). After looking at the different selections scattered around Rustan's Supermarket Makati, we decided to try out Gourmet To Go.

With the glass-covered brightly lit display cases featuring salads, pastas, sandwiches & soups, it looked like a smorgasbord of gourmet deli goodies just waiting to be eaten.

Gourmet To Go, Rustan's Makati
True to it's name, we had our food to go. They wrapped our sandwich, packed our pasta and placed everything in a brown paper bag.  Kudos for being eco-friendly.

**We're giving a heads up to the staff who assembled our food. She forgot to take our lasagna out of the microwave oven after heating. She was beginning to assist the woman who was not even buying anything from their shop (She was just having her money changed into smaller bills).  We had to remind her that our order was not yet complete. Tsk tsk. **

Chicken Run at Classic Savory, The Link Building Makati

Hearing of the SM Advantage promo through the grapevine, we decided to eat dinner at Classic Savory

SM Advantage Savory Promo

We've had their chicken before but this would be the first we were having Savory's Lomi. With tummies rumbling, we soon found ourselves in front of Classic Savory, The Link Building in Makati.

Table wares & Chairs
I know it sounds silly but with the cover picture of chicken in their menu and the wooden table & chairs, I couldn't help but think that we were at Max's Restaurant. But the similarities end there.

Beating the Heat at Lulubelle, Serendra

After having lunch at Chuck's Deli, we wanted to eat something cold & sweet to wash away the spicy flavor of the Buffy (Oh, bad news to the CD Buffy fans, it's now Ph590 for a full slab! Gasp! Talk about a whooping 150 pesos price increase!).

We ended up at Lulubelle

Lulubelle, Serendra

For a sunny, balmy afternoon stepping into the quaint desserts place was a good idea.  With the pink & purple motif, first thought that popped inside my head was, "Too girly, but not in a bad way." The colors were balanced out by the white spacing that made the place look spacier than it actually is.

Pink Bar
Picture Perfect
If I can pick one distinctive thing in this place, I'd say it's the framed blown up photos of the yogurt.  It looked so creamy and yummy that you can't wait to try it out for yourself. Good job! :)

Filipino Pride
Another thing that caught my fancy was the graffiti printed on one of their cabinets. The ingredients they use are all locally produced. It's nice to see that the patriotic spirit is still very much alive. Thumbs up!

On the Sea of Disaster at Prestige Cruises, Manila Bay

** Another left over post from last month.
We thought long and hard if we were going to post this one.
Here goes.... **

On the same day of the Pacquiao-Marquez fight, we were invited to a cruise dinner by the Bay. Running late, we were zooming in and out of lanes. We got there with lots of time to spare. Phew.

Outside the Cruise Ship
Prestige Cruise, Manila Bay
Since we arrived earlier than expected, we got the chance to explore and look around. The Upper Deck was overcrowded, with almost no spaces in between the tables and chairs. Also, this was where the DJ was set up with the singer.

It's Fries & Balls at NYFD Fries, Smart Araneta Center

Whew! Just got home from another exciting night of basketball!

The tickets to this game were quickly sold out. Good thing we bought ours days ahead.

With lots of time to spare, we bought our favorite game time snack, NYFD Fries! :)

NYFD Fries, Smart Araneta Center
We ordered the largest size which came with 3 dips of your choice. The fries was as good as we remembered.  Suggestion? Always ask for the newly cooked ones.

Potato Goodness in a cup
NYFD Fries used less preservatives and the cuts are bigger.  But the thing that sold it for us was that it tasted like real potatoes!  The portion is good for 2-3 people.  The fries lasted 'til the 1st quarter of the second game! :)

Body Aches and Pains at Bare Foot Day Spa, D. Tuazon Quezon City

Let's try something new!

True to our name, FoodStars Plus (+) , we will now be posting something other than food. After a stressful afternoon of walking & talking, we wanted to get some foot relief. Upon suggestion of one of our friends, we headed to Bare Foot Spa.

Bare Foot Day Spa,  D. Tuazon Quezon City
First impression? Not very impressive. With the dark entrance and darker surroundings, the place actually gave me the creeps. The thought "Parang hindi spa" came into mind. But of course, I reserved judgments 'til later.

Zen (?)
It was much brighter inside. You walk up to the counter and browse through their services. The quaint zen-like structure in front made the place more spa-like.

Couch with Pillows
They have a waiting area where you can sit and wait for your name to be called. Suggestion? Make reservations ahead of time especially if you're going as a group.

VMS: Krispy Kreme, Glorietta 4 Makati

We always crave for something sweet to munch on, especially in the late hours of the night. What's better then one sweet dessert? How about 6 of them! :)

Encased in a pretty polka-dotted box with paper handle, Krispy Kreme guarantees another night of sugar highs and fun.

We usually order them for take out so we can enjoy their yummy goodness while sitting in front of the TV. Can you guess our favorite flavor? :)

Dinner Dud at Dencio's, Harborview Square

This is the end of hiatus.. and we're starting off with a BANG! :)

** This is actually a leftover post from last month.**

After going on a "cruise trip", we had dinner at a nearby place. This was our first time to step onto Harborview Square. It was a toss up between Army Navy or Dencio's. Rice with sisig won... again :)

Dencio's, Harborview Square

Take Two with Bamboo

With music blaring from the outside as well as in, the place didn't feel as empty as it looked.

Jungle Fever
While waiting for our orders to arrive, I took pictures. With the orange light fixture (that looked like cocoons), plants all around and bamboos on the sides, it felt quite a bit like you're in a safari adventure. Haha.  Drums nalang, jungle na :)

Dear FS Readers (2)...

It's time for another month-end round up! :)

We've hit one of our all-time favs last month. It's the place where we've been coming back and back again :)

We've had our first At The Movies post with Atticus and the gang.

A couple of VMS posts, from pizza to burgers to Chinese cuisine, all eaten at the comfort of our own home.

And a few QC restaurants, both old & new ones.

.. and without further ado, we bring you FoodStars November 2011 Food Attack! :)

ENJOY!

Thank you for making us your daily habit! :)

Dear FS Readers (1)...

We've said our goodbyes to November....

December's came a-knocking and Christmas is fast approaching.

Are you feeling the Christmas spirit yet?

If not, here's some holiday cheer to brighten up your day! :)

It's time for a new segment called

Can you guess where these were taken?

VMS: KFC Zinger Double Down, Makati

We've been a fan of the Original KFC Double Down so when we heard that KFC was introducing a new one, we couldn't wait to try it out.

Zinger Double Down along EDSA
With a billboard this big, what other signs do you need? :) So we gave in and ordered delivery.

Zinger Packaging
It comes in a paper wrapping with cardboard on the side. A bit plain if you ask me. But on to the important part. How it tastes!

VMS: Brothers Burger, Paseo De Magallanes Makati

Craving burgers for dinner, we perused the net for selections. Luckily, we came across Brother's Burgers Anniversary Deal. With a bargain like that, who can pass on it?

Too lazy to go out, we had someone order it for take out. :)

Deal Leaflet
Take Out from Brothers Burger, Magallanes
There came a time when we stopped patronizing Brother Burger. Instead of the usual hot & consistently yummy burgers, they were serving below par food with a high price tag. Tsk tsk. That was a deadly combination.

But we decided to give it another chance.

Brothers Burger + Softdrinks in Can
We couldn't wait to sink our teeth in as we excitedly unwrapped them. Questions were zippin through our mind... How would they fare? Have they improved?

We were about to find out.

ATM: Happy Feet 2 at Greenbelt 3 Cinema

Welcome to our first ever Movie Night Review!

We were lucky enough to snag tickets for Happy Feet 2 at Greenbelt 3 last night. Thanks JM! We were almost late, arriving 5 mins before the 7pm screening. Good thing that the movie starts at 7:30pm. Phew.

Premiere Tickets

There was no reserved seating but no worries, the line wasn't that long. He did not watch the first Happy Feet so we gave him a refresher course about Mumble and the gang.

It's a story of a penguin named Mumble who had to go through life being different. He met others along the way that helped him accept who he is and go home to where he belongs. He learned that being different is not bad and that everyone's unique in his own way.
Lining up for the movie

While waiting for the line to move, I was looking around for posters or banners to take more pictures but sadly, I couldn't see any. :(

Asian Fusion at Little Asia, The Venice Piazza Makati

Wanting to unwind after a stressful day, we decided to use our vouchers. We have never been to The Venice Piazza so this was a good time as any to try it out.

Little Asia, The Venice Piazza
At 7 in the evening on a weekday, I must say that the place was buzzing with activity. Unlike their Promenade branch, this one looks like a keeper, at least for now. We made reservations and expected to be seated right away, but alas this was no different from our J&Y experience.

We had to wait outside for 15 minutes. This was definitely not a good start.

After sweating bullets, we were finally called to our table.

Light fixtures with HUGE mirrors
Bubbles! :)

As you enter, you'll notice right away that this is different from the GH branch. With the super high ceiling and elaborate fixtures, this place up the ante a little bit. It was giving off a vibe of luxury and class. Kudos to that.

The Old & The New at Kimpo Teahouse, Banawe QC

Coming from the Warehouse Sale, we were all tired and hungry. Wanted to eat somewhere familiar and casual, nothing fussy. We drove to Han Pao but what welcomed us instead was something bigger and brighter.

Kim Po Teahouse, Banawe St Quezon City
The spacious parking was a cause for celebration. No more having to park at other nearby restaurants and to quickly run inside Han Pao, hoping that the guard did not see. Haha. But seriously, thumbs up for this.

VMS: Mann Hann

Bummed out with the fact that I had to stay at home and miss our B session. Doctor's orders was to rest but his orders was bed rest. Managed to sneak a bit of blog time before he finds out! :)

A knock on the door and surprise, this was waiting for me.

Take Out from Mann Hann
What goodies were in store? I couldn't wait for him to get home. Yup, I was that hungry!

Yang Chow Fried Rice
As soon as I opened the container, the wonderful aroma soon filled the air. The Yang Chow Fried Rice was good enough for 3-4 people. It looked really yummy. As I dug in, I was able to taste the egg, shrimp, veggies and ham. This was already a meal in itself. I managed to eat half of this by myself. Goodbye diet!

Late Dinner Dimsum at King Chef, Banawe St Quezon City

FS Update: Aside from the fact that they only serve hakaw during the weekends, they also raised the prices. Hakaw is now Php 55 per order. Add the bad service we got from a server named Art, we're definitely bringing our business back to Causeway instead.

************************************************************************************************************
Coming straight from a massage session, we were looking for a place to eat. We all voted for dim sum. Of course the first restaurant that came into mind was Causeway. But it was already 11:00pm, all the dim sums would've been sold out when we get there. Someone suggested this  new place....

Welcome to King Chef

A bold name, I must say.

King Chef, Banawe Quezon City
With it's ample parking lot, you'll have no trouble finding a space for your car. They separate the fine dining from dim sum. Is this becoming the new restaurant trend? Hmmm...

While waiting for the dim sum cart, I pretty much amused myself taking photos of the restaurant's interior. With the open-bar like structure in front, the kitchen window where ducks were hanging on the pegs and the bright lights, this was a stark contrast from Causeway.

VMS: Brooklyn Pizza, Makati

Prepping up for a movie night, we had to order the perfect movie night snack: PIZZA!

We stayed away from this restaurant for the longest time because of a bad incident that happened before... IMPOLITE STAFF + UNHELPFUL MANAGER = THUMBS DOWN SERVICE.

But we decided to give them another chance.

Brooklyn Pizza, Makati

As far as I can remember, Brooklyn Pizza was the first one to offer half pizzas for delivery. They were also the ones who pioneered the "different flavors on one pizza"

Midnight Snack Time at Bubble Tea, Wilson St Greenhills

After a grueling exercise session, we wanted something cool and refreshing to drink. With it's bright lights and pretty facade, we knew this was our stop.

Bubble Tea, Wilson St Greenhills

Outside...

Going in... :)
Can you say brimming with life? The whole place lights up like a Christmas tree. Inviting and cozy, the perfect tambayan place. White chairs and booths lined up the restaurant. Hmm.. couldn't wait to order.

Yummy-niku at Tajimaya, SM Mall of Asia

Bad news folks! Tajimaya implemented it's new eat-all-you-can rule: NO MORE ICE CREAM INCLUDED! :(

************************************************************************************************************
Our first choice for the night was actually Dampa since we were craving for tempura. In the end, we scheduled that for another time. Heard so much about Tajimaya at SM MOA that finally, we decided that it was time to take the plunge. With empty stomachs, we were bracing ourselves for an all-you-can-eat food adventure.

Tajimaya, SM Mall of Asia
Up close
We've eaten at a lot of eat-all-you-can buffets and frankly, they were all disappointing. So you can understand why we were hesitant to try this out.

Lighting our way...
As you enter, you'll notice a flaming chalice atop a wooden pedestal. Loved how the fake flames were flickering, I just had to take a picture of it.

Booths
What surprised me the most is that the restaurant was spacious. The booths were secluded and roomy. They were also coral-like panels that separate each table seating to another. Intimate and cozy, just the way we like it.

Also, the acoustics of the place was really great, you can talk amongst yourselves and not hear from the other tables. Ahhh.. bliss. Double thumbs up for that! :)
