Potter Heads at The Nook Cafe, Maginhawa Street, Quezon City, Philippines

When I read about this Harry Potter Cafe in Quezon City, I knew I just had to visit. More than anything, I was in it for the Butterbeer. Yup, still a foodie through and through.

I timed it with my Sunday visit to my mom's house; I planned on bringing her here for some drinks & snacks. Unfortunately, she wasn't home & failed to let me know beforehand (attended a Tagaytay wedding). Brought my shoti along who was left home alone.

Phoned ahead & asked if we can make a reservation; but they only follow a "first-come-first-served" policy and even informed us that there's no guarantee that we would be able to get inside. :x

Decided to still go ahead.

Arrived just in time before the rain started pouring. Here's the first Potter art you'll see; Hedwig chillin' in the tree.

After signing in at the counter, be prepared to wait for about 30-40 minutes for an available table downstairs. A request to be seated upstairs takes about another 20 minutes.

Here's a shot of their counter which was constantly buzzing with activity due to nonstop people lining up to order or to ask whether their table's ready.

Finally our table was ready!!

We were seated at the table by the stairs....

And had Dobby for company! ;)

We got 2 Butterbeers; Hagrid-size of course. Hubby decided to be a rebel and got their Caramel Macchiato. We also got the Bacon-wrapped Chicken to snack on.

Our drinks came out pretty fast.

Butterbeer Hagrid size (Php 150 each)
They serve it in regular-sized beer mugs just like in the movie! Foamy and cold, I took a sip.. then another... then another... It was yummy! Shoti was complaining of the sweetness but I had no trouble with it. This gets a thumbs up from me :)

Caramel Macchiato Hot (Php 95)
Hubby's choice wasn't bad either. The coffee art was a nice touch.

Bacon Wrapped Chicken (Php 140)
Imagine Pandan Chicken but instead of having Pandan leaves all around the chicken, its bacon. The chicken was soft and juicy although the bacon could've been crunchier. Overall, its a nice complement to the drinks.

We were done eating & drinking by 3:45pm but I really wanted to go upstairs. And so we waited... and waited... and waited...

To pass the time, we....

... examined their wands...

.... did photo shoots with them....

... read & re-read their rules...

... got a hold of The Marauder's Map...

.... made a video of the map...

... looked up and saw a broom...

... caught the Golden Snitch...

We were about to call it quits when our table was called! It was our turn to go upstairs.

Time Check: 6pm

Yup, we waited for almost 2 hours.

Went up the stairs with anticipation.

Wall art of the different Houses and the Time Turner.

And we're finally on the 2nd floor.

It wasn't what I expected.

On the clothes rack by the stairs, they had robes for each House. The Gryffindor comes with the red & gold scarf while the Slytherin had the green necktie. I suggest you take loads of pictures with it.

Use this as your backdrop.

This was the death defying hammock that people could not stop sitting on. #YOLO?

We were done after 10-15 mins. You can tell by the surprised faces of the staff that this was the shortest time anyone stayed upstairs for.

We were out of there a little before 6:30pm and the line outside didn't show any signs of stopping.

Food-Stars Verdict? Although the Butterbeer was on the expensive side, I would definitely come back for that. As for the other Potter aspects, it was underwhelming. We were expecting that the 2nd floor would hold the answer to the long lines but was sorely disappointed.

** Oh and don't forget to say hi to their resident "Crookshanks" who strolls inside the cafe whenever he feels like it **
