Pinoy Pizza at Sandy's, Makati

We were scared to try out a new online coupon site but when we saw this deal, being pizza lovers we had to try this out.

Trivia: This pizza place is apparently owned by Gabby Concepcion's sister.

Hidden in the outskirts of Makati, we welcome you to Sandy's Pizza!

Order Counter
As you enter, you'll notice that the place is a bit cramped. The order counter is just a few steps away from the door. It was a bit hot & stuffy but the staff immediately opened the a/c.

Wall photos
The only decor you'll see are the pictures of celebrities posted on the walls. Other than that, the restaurant strictly employs a minimalist look. The empty wooden tables and chairs at 6pm was a disappointing sight.

Yogurt Craze at Golden Spoon, Paseo

And our quest for the best frozen yogurt ends... with Golden Spoon taking the first place ( at least for now )!

Golden Spoon, Paseo Center Makati
We first had a chance to try this place out using the Citibank promo (free 1 large yogurt with 1 topping). And we have been coming back ever since :)

First, you have to choose your yogurt. The fun part? They change it monthly so you get to try new flavors (much like Dairy Queen). The downside? Your favorite might not be there the next time you come to visit, which was what exactly happened to us. :(

And just like in Dippin' Dots, they offer samples to help you choose the best tasting yogurt.

Dinner & Dice at Little Asia, Promenade

To celebrate the Mooncake Festival, we decided to eat out & have our dice game at Little Asia, Promenade.

We made reservations for 8pm expecting the dinner rush. Unfortunately, business seemed kinda slow even during a weekend. There were only a handful of customers eating.

As you enter, you'll see a bar-like structure where they have their wines on display.  The walls were filled with awards & pictures of celebrities who have tried their wares.

Attention: Starbucks Promenade

Dear Starbucks Promenade,

Please re-train your staff. Your Caramel Frappe needs improvement. Every sip tasted like whipped cream only. Did not enjoy.

We have been coming back here and still, your drinks always comes up short.

We hope to see better drinks the next time we drop by.

Until then, we here at FoodStars give you a whopping THUMBS DOWN!

Sincerely Yours,
FoodStars

Expected a Better Night with Kitchen Knight

As promised, here's our review for Kitchen Knight's bestsellers!

It was 12:45am and we were hungry. Wanted to try something different for a change. After minutes of searching the web, we stumbled upon this restaurant. Open from 6pm-2am only? Sounds perfect for my midnight cravings. All the dishes comes with rice and veggies. They also offer FREE DELIVERY for 3 dishes and up.

Placed my order, waited for 40 mins and voila!

R.I.P. :Tea Time Blues at Serenitea, North Greenhills

FS Update: Unfortunately, this Serenitea Branch is now closed. We are now placing this under the R.I.P. category.
'Til our next Good Eat!
************************************************************************************************************
While waiting for the rain to subside, we made a quick pit stop at Serenitea, North Greenhills. It seemed strange that it's located inside North Greenhills Village.

First impression? It's a hassle to get to especially if you bring a car. There's no parking space available plus the guards are unhelpful, to the point of being impolite already. Even after informing them that you're just going to be dropped off at Serenitea, they make such a big deal out of the time it takes you to make the U-turn and to get out of the car.

Add to the fact that it was raining really hard and there were areas where there was no roof, these were enough reason for us to turn back. But decided at the last minute to at least give it a chance.

Heating Things Up at You Jie Xiao Chao, Makati

One of the hidden Chinese restaurants in Makati now comes to light.

Nestled in a residential area in Camia Street with no signboard whatsoever, this restaurant is unnoticeable to the untrained eye. It seems like this is a food spot wherein people flock for good food and definitely not for the ambiance.

White simplicity
The interior was too simple, nothing in it suggests that this is a restaurant other than the wooden tables and chairs.  With the plain walls and dull atmosphere, the food better taste really good.

A word of caution, almost all dishes here are spicy. Definitely not for the fainthearted.

Pizza Paradiso at Caffe Puccini, The Fort Strip BGC

This is the 1st of 3 reviews.

I'm going to be honest, I have never heard of this place before this was offered on an online coupon site. Being suckers for white cheese pizza, you had us at  Pizza Quattro Formaggio. :)
Caffe Puccini, The Fort Strip, Bonifacio Global City
Don't let the exterior fool you. I was expecting a quaint, old-fashioned style of pizzaria but upon entering, the place was buzzing with activity. We arrived at 8:30pm and the place was still filled to the brim. Another example why making reservations are so important.

With it's orange walls, yellow lights and brick-walled ovens, it seem like you've just entered into a slice of Italy. O Sole Mio... :)

Hainanese High at Wee Nam Kee, Serendra

Hearing about the newly opened branch at Serendra, we decided to brave the Citibank crowd and try their Hainanese Chicken for a second time.

Continuing our search for the yummiest buffalo wings, we heard about this place in Solaris One  building.

Passion? Pass On!!

The newly erected Resorts World Manila has been getting rave reviews all throughout the web-iverse. Last night, we decided it was time to check what the hype was all about. We wanted something Chinese for a change so we headed to Passion.

Boycotting World Topps Valero

WORST EXPERIENCE EVER!

The management at World Topps, Valero insists on changing the terms and conditions printed on the voucher.

1. It is clearly stated that under Standard Ensogo Terms that price is inclusive of all service charge and VAT.

Then how come World Topps, Valero is insisting that I have to pay for the service charge?

Attention Peaches (8403528, 09178667892), do not join any online group coupon buying site if you can not comply with the universal terms and conditions stated. That's false advertising.  People come there, prepaid already then you change the agreed terms? You have NO WORD OF HONOR! Then you have your staff show me the folder with all those Ensogo vouchers who all paid for the service charge? Ilang tao ang niloko niyo? If I only knew that you would be doing this, I would never have bought those vouchers in the first place. We came there to enjoy and then we had to contend with this kind of incompetence. Sino ang matutuwa.

The Final & Last Time I'll Ever Go To World Topps, Valero

Craving for Satay Chicken and Beef Salpicao, we decided to visit the World Topps branch located at Valero Plaza Makati. We were regulars at their Timog branch before it closed down.  We were expecting to have fun and just enjoy the evening out but alas, this became one of the WORST dining experiences ever. I'm finding it hard to rate this restaurant objectively but I'll try to be fair.

Frozen Delights at Frutti Froyo, Petron Square Dasmariñas makati

We had an attack of the sweet tooth last night. We were deciding between Cafe Breton at Greenbelt or the yogurt place beside the Petron gas station. Frutti Froyo won for the night.

With the orange & green interiors, yellow-lit bulbs, they make you feel that eating frozen yogurt should be F-U-N. But alas, their self-service type of marketing emphasizes the fact that it's too systematic and complicated.
