Simple Supper at Jay-J's Inasal, Timog Quezon City

Before going for a visit to see our friend's baby (Hi Radley!), we decided to have dinner at one of our favorite food stops in QC.

Jay-J's Inasal, Timog QC

Compared to the brightly lit Burger King just a few meters away, Jay-J's simple exterior of green walls and huge brown doors is plain-looking. You might've driven by without even giving it a second glance. But this is one of FS' favorites for a reason. Read on to know why.

Brown tables

White lights

Bamboo walls

More than anything, the decor was evoking a jungle vibe, somewhat woodsy and dark. They added splashes of color on the walls to liven the place up a bit. Note: The wooden benches are super heavy, lift with both hands if you must.

Pork Sisig (Php 170)

The crunchy cut up pieces of pork was served hot. The aroma soon wafted through the air and mouths began to water. Remember to quickly turn the meat over before it gets burnt. Add in the calamansi, soy sauce & hot sauce and you're all set. Serving is good for sharing up to 3-4 people. Not the best but is definitely high up on our list of good sisig.

Bulalo Steak (Php 215)
The first few times we came here, they served this uncut. Kudos to the person who thought of cutting them into bite-size, so much easier for sharing. The beef is soft and juicy & easily slides across the knife. Serving is good for 2-3 people that we had lots left over.

Laing (Php 120)
With the oozing coconut juices and chopped sili, this creamy veggie & pork dish can whet anyone's appetite. Classic pampagana dish, you need to eat this with rice.

Inihaw na Baboy (Php 170)

Even though it looks the same, don't mistake this for the Inihaw na Liempo.  We made that error once and paid for it dearly. Jay-J's Inihaw na Baboy is sweet and tickles the taste buds. This is the dish we keep coming back for. Verdict? Highly recommended.

Turon
And last but not the least, here is their complimentary Turon. Yup you read it right, they give out free turon, just remember to ask for it. Serving is proportionate to how many people are in the table ( ex 2 pax = 2 turon, 4 pax = 4 turons). Sweet, sticky and fried bananas, a perfect ending to a simple yet enjoyable dinner. :)
