In the mood for something new, we soon found ourselves walking along the gardens of Ayala Triangle. This place at night is mesmerizing. With the huge green expanse of manicured grass and shady trees, this is the perfect place to walk your dog and just chill.
We were soon at Omakase's doorstep, our food haunt for the night.
Omakase Japanese Cuisine, Ayala Triangle Gardens |
Japanese Couple Statue |
With the cute statuettes and large bay windows, you can't help but feel excited for what's in store for dinner tonight.
The white table with red foam chairs was cool to the eyes. Perfect complement to the Japanese knick-knacks found all around the restaurant.
Hole-in-the-wall cut outs with glass figurines adorned the walls. The cheery wall paintings were also a sight to behold. Yup, Omakase doesn't scrimp on the decor.
Their menu is a simple one, just the name and a figure with silhouette and a koi. I'm having trouble understanding the meaning behind the image though. Hmmm...
House Tea |
Dynamite Roll (Php 230) |
Philadelphia Roll (Php 205) |
Salmon Sashimi (Php 215) |
The salmon was fresh and every bite slides off the tongue. Serving is good for 2-3 people.
Seafood Crepe Salad (Php 215) |
Notice the trend? Yup, we were having a bit of a sushi overload. But hey, if they all tasted like these, you'll be asking for a sushi tummy yourself. A crispy lettuce bed topped with crunchy pieces of tuna, kani, squid & shrimp. I'm no salad lover but this just might make me into one. :)
This was definitely a good sign. The starters were divine! With crossed fingers, we were hoping the main courses follow that trend.
Fried Rice Bowl (Php 230) |
If you're planning on ordering rice, FS suggests that instead of ordering per cup order the bowl. The serving is good for 4-5 people with a bit left over. We asked them to remove the beef bits, in respect for the non-beef eaters at the table. The Fried Rice Bowl may not be much to look at but the taste definitely compensates.
Chicken Teriyaki (Php 185) |
Beef Tepan (Php 325) |
The beef tenderloin was succulent & juicy. Cubed for easier eating & sharing. It was good. Tastes pretty much the same as other high-end Japanese restaurants (like Ishin, Kimpura, etc) which is no small feat. The buttered togue & veggies added color. Don't forget the sauce! :)
Agedashi Tofu (Php 110) |
Ebi Tempura 8 pcs (Php 385) |
Although smaller than expected, the tempura was coated well and the breading was crunchy. As for the taste? It was nothing special though.
In conclusion, Omakase did not disappoint nor excite us as expected.
Would we come back?
Yup, definitely. We'll just be ordering more from the starters menu next time around. :)
