Lunch-ing Out at Chef Laudico Bistro Filipino, BGC

With the blistering sun on our backs, we drove to Chef Laudico's Bistro Filipino for lunch. We were in the mood for Filipino cuisine & we couldn't wait to taste Laudico's creations.

Bistro Filipino, BGC
By 12nn, we were already in front of the glass entrance of Bistro Filipino.

Flower Power
Mirror Mirror
As you enter, you'll see these HUGE centerpieces. Bistro Filipino was favoring interiors that were massive in size.

Lighted Bar

Table Top
We were soon led to our seats. Dollops of swirled butter were laid on the bread plate. After placing our orders, the bread basket was served.

Bread Basket
Nestling on a flower-shaped table napkin, the bread looked hot & fresh... sadly it was cold & tasted bland even with the butter. :(

Wagyu Salpicao (Php 388)
I'm a sucker for Salpicao so when I saw Wagyu Salpicao on the menu, my heart gave a flutter. Ordered one for each. What came out was this lovely colored dish of green & orange; the presentation definitely an eye-candy. As for the taste? The beef pieces were succulent, the veggies were cooked just right; we were off to a good start.

Adobo Mushroom Cappuccino (Php 198)
First impression? Too foamy. I know that's how cappuccino looks like but it still looks a bit strange when it's in soup form. Tried it, liked it. It was creamy; you just have to mix in the adobo sauce that was on the bottom of the dome bowl. Verdict? Something different... good different.

3 Kinds Of Mangoes
Wanting this to be an authentic Pinoy experience, I went for the salad with bagoong dressing so I can't really blame anyone but myself. This was as promised; the bagoong dressing was strong with every mouthful. The 2 slices of mangoes were too few to matter; they didn't do anything to help the flavor. The kasuy-crusted cheese on top was something unique. Verdict? Definitely not for the faint of heart.

Bulalo Steak (Php 488)
The Bulalo was a bit dry and tough to cut. The sauce though was the perfect complement to the dish. But the yummy one was actually the Sweet potato Croquette on the bottom. Yup, the sides were the better tasting ones.

Bistro Onion Gravy & Bistek Sauce
Meat Mix Grill (Php 588)
This was actually included 3 different kinds of meat (chicken, pork & beef). On top was the Organic Chicken; next were the Wagyu Flat Iron Steak & lastly the Pork Belly. The onion Chicken was okay as was the Pork, nothing special about them. The Beef on the other hand was a surprised. Cooked medium well, brown on the outside but pink on the inside, the knife easily slides through the meat. This would've been a good dish except there was a fruit fly crawling around the rice; I think that's enough for anyone to lose their appetite. This was replaced quickly & apologies were given.

Molten Chocolate Cake (Php 248)
No Barako Coffee Tuille in sight. Sigh. These looked like upside down tiny cupcakes topped with small scoops of ice cream. The Dulce de Leche they promised were 4 little squirts adorning the plate. Diminutive was the first thing that came into mind. This was as sweet and as rich as it looked.

This 4-course meal left me a bit underwhelmed. The serving was too small even for 1 person. It seemed to me that they spent more thought in the presentation of the food rather than the taste itself.

I'm giving a shout out to the great service we had from Tito. Good job! :)
