Sunday Munch Out at Marriott Cafe, Newport City Complex

** Late post **

I think we're on a hotel eating spree. :) For this particular Sunday, we headed out to Marriott Cafe at the Newport City Complex.

Marriot Cafe, Newport City Complex
As always, we were expecting stellar service. What we got instead was a huge disappointment. Even with reservations done days before, the people manning this reception counter were clueless. After almost 15 agonizing minutes, they soon found it penciled in their books.

As we were about to walk in, they stopped us again with a lame excuse that they were not yet open for lunch even if there were already people seated inside enjoying their meal. Seriously? They made us wait another 15 minutes before ushering us in.

You can just imagine how frustrating it's become even before the meal started. Ugh. A definite bad start.

You get to choose your seats, either you sit by the wooden tables surrounded by bright lights or you can sit in their "darker", more secluded booths way way back. We choose airy & lights.

Here's a smorgasbord of their wares....

What's left of the Turkey...
Sushi
Salad Bar
Rissoto Section
Cocktails!
The selections were okay but was lacking lamb and oysters, my usual go-to comfort food. :(

After ordering one round of cocktails, we luckily stumbled upon this "hidden" part where you can order foie gras & striploin. :)

Sides & Sauces
You get a choice of either corn bread or potatoes as sides. They also have 5 sauces for your foie gras. The tomato came highly recommended so we gave it a go.... definitely a good choice! :) FS Reminder: Stay away from the pineapple!

With tummies full, we went to look at their dessert section.
I soon found out that I still had room for dessert. :p

It was wall to wall of chocolate goodness. Loved the clay pot presentation. :)

The choco mallows tree was a nice touch.

These flat chocolates were divine. White for me please. :)

The gelato flavors were yum as well. I'm seeing a huge sugar high in our near future.. :)

For the health-conscious, fresh fruits were available.

FS Verdict? The reception staff needs work. More practice needed on how to professionally handle situations regarding reservations & customer dialogue. The food selection quite minimal but tasty nonetheless.

Would we come back? Most probably.
