Bright & Early at Torch, Greenhills San Juan

Early eating on a Sunday morning. We forgo sleeping in for a chance to try out the much hyped Torch breakfast omelette. One good thing about driving early? No traffic. It only took us 12 mins of driving from Makati to Greenhills and that's including parking already.

Torch, Connecticut Greenhills
Was surprised to see lots of cars parked outside. Good thing we made reservations the night before. But when we entered, there were only 3 groups of people eating, that's us included. I wonder where all those people were...

From 7:30-10:30am, everything on their breakfast menu included unlimited coffee. For non-coffee drinkers, you can have it changed into iced tea instead. Likewise those dishes with bread can be changed into rice instead.

Pardon the bad lighting. Forgot to turn the flash on again (smacks head).

Sardines (Php 175.95)

This normally comes with garlic rice but MIL opted to have bread instead. Our apprehension was that the sardines they serve might just be straight from the can. Not sure if it was but MIL liked the salty taste + olive oil.

Bacon Temptation Omelette ((Php 179.95)
I was hoping for a table side cooking of the omelette but no dice. They serve it in a sizzling platter on a big wooden spatula. The portion was smaller than expected and presentation-wise, nothing to write home about. Taste was okay. FS Recommendation? Ask for catsup.

Steak and Eggs (Php 245.95)
I know what you're thinking, steak for breakfast? Yeah, the carnivore in me spoke loud & clear. I asked the steak to be medium well and it came out with just the right amount of pink inside. The problem was that the Angus steak was tough to chew. I'm not sure how they could cook the inside just right & go wrong with the outside. Had the egg scrambled. This was quite filling actually. FS Verdict? Average, nothing special.

Iced Tea
The highlight of the meal was actually the titled glass of iced tea. This made for a fun conversation starter.

So was the drive worth it? I think I set my hopes up too high. It wasn't that the food wasn't good, it's more of none of the dishes excite my taste buds.

Are we coming back? Maybe for lunch or dinner but definitely not for breakfast.

SERVICE: - Attentive at times though sometimes it takes longer to catch their attention.

TASTE: - Average.

VALUE FOR YOUR MONEY: - The unlimited drinks were well worth one star.
