Fresh from my passport renewal at SM Megamall (which was a breeze by the way), Hubby was up for something new for our late lunch. Edsa Shangrila's new wing of foodie haunts was calling out to us... so off we go! ;)
Too many to choose from but one jumped right off the bat.
Kettle, East Wing Shangrila Mall |
A bit smaller than expected; we had to wait awhile for a space inside.
To start us off, we ordered their Oven Roasted Squash Soup.
Oven Roasted Squash Soup (Php 249) |
What came out was this bowl of shrimps (aka shrimp salad) with a side of garlic bread. See the small pitcher? It encased the hot squash soup. You'll need to pour the orange liquid over the shrimp salad. Cute right?
Well trigger-happy me just had to take pictures.... lots of it. ;)
Now for the verdict. The shrimps had an overpowering lemon flavor which I didn't like much. The squash soup by itself would've been a much better dish. Overall, this was just okay.
Australian Lamb Adobo with Truffled Mushroom Brown Rice (Php 449) |
Lamb was cooked 'til tender yet still juicy. Was looking for the familiar adobo sauce but there was none which made this a bit dry. The truffled mushroom brown rice was the perfect complement to this dish.
And now for the highlight of our afternoon meal, we got their much talked about Buttermilk Fried Chicken.
This was served with 3 slices of Honey Glazed Cornbread (which I really liked). You get two dipping sauces for your chicken Country Gravy & Cajun Honey. I preferred the Honey, it brought out the flavors of the chicken more. FS Verdict? The taste reminded me of Racks' Fried Chicken... but in a good way. Boneless and crunchy, Kettle's Buttermilk Fried Chicken is definitely worth writing home about.

We washed it all down with this cool, refreshing lemon mint water.
