Veggie Night at Caffe Dolce, Banawe Street Quezon City, Philippines

We were meeting up with my mom for dinner around QC. For a change, she suggested a vegetarian place that she frequents with her friends. Since we were trying to improve our lifestyle by being more active, I guess the next obvious step would be eating healthy as well.

So here's our first ever all-veggie dinner :)

As the doors of the elevator opens, Caffe Dolce is the first thing you'll see. While Mommy & I were gushing about the cute decor, Hubby was busying fiddling with his phone. I think he found the place too girly ;)

Caffe Dolce offers a wide array of seating areas; the alcove with 2 sofa sets, the dining area with crystal-legged chairs & the huge red couches.

Since traffic followed us from Makati to QC, we were all famished. After perusing their menu & mommy suggesting their tastiest dishes, here's what we had for dinner....

Fresh Tropical Fruit Tea Pot (Php 160)
Hubby was still nursing a bit of a cough so this was a perfect drink to soothe his throat. To maintain its constant hotness, they serve this with a table top burner. Clever right? Mom was raving about this & with just one sip I was a convert. This smelled heavenly & is now on top of our favorite tea list. ;)

Pineapple Fried Rice with Rolled Salad (Php 299)

Look at this HUGE piece of Rolled Salad
This is fresh lettuce leaves rolled in a layer of scrambled eggs and topped with crunchy nuts. It's the sweetened vinaigrette sauce that completes the dish. Food-Stars Verdict? Simple & light yet oh so satisfying. ;9

The Pineapple Fried Rice on the other hand was a bit underwhelming. It wasn't bad but tasted quite ordinary.

Lasagna (Php 210)
I've had no-meat lasagna before & liked it. I was hoping that Caffe Dolce's version would be an instant fav as well. Instead of the usual tomato sauce, here they used creamy bechamel sauce. Food-Stars Verdict? The first bite made me miss the meat. Even with all the trimmings (veggie meat & veggies), this dish didn't make the cut.

Quattro e Formaggi 12' (Php 310)

For a vegetarian restaurant, they sure do know their cheese pizza! ;9 The crust was toasted just right & the 4 cheeses were stringy & melted just the way I like. Plus, this was the only pizza version that distanced itself from either fruit (Tropical Fruit) & veggies (Green Garden). ;)

Stir Fried Noodles with Calamares (Php 199)
A generous portion of Hong Kong style stir fried noodles also made an appearance that night. Food-Stars Verdict? This was my least favorite dish of the night. Tasted bland & was very much disappointed.

After that sad moment with the noodles, I perked up when they served the dessert.

Pretty Toast
Tropical Fruit Honey Toast (Php 259)
Kinda reminds you of Shibuya Toast doesn't it? ;) This pretty thing of beauty was the finale of the night. Cutting into the honey toast yields the yummy cinnamon toast. Yes, it's a honey-toast-inside-a-cinnamon-toast kinda dessert.... or as I simply call it, toast-inception! ;) The sweetness comes from the ice cream & custard cream while the fresh slices of fruits were there to keep it borderline healthy.  Hahaha.

Mango Yogurt Frost (Php 149)
And I washed it all down with this cold one. The not-your-ordinary-sago made this a fun drink. As you bite into their popping bobbas, a burst of mango flavor explodes in your mouth. This guaranteed that not a single piece of sago will be left in my glass! ;9

Overall, our introduction to Caffe Dolce was a memorable one. Thanks mom! ;)
