Burgers, Fries and Shakes at Shake Shack, BGC, Philippines

Here’s how our first visit to Shake Shack went.

Since Hubby volunteered to stay with our newborn, my toddler & I quickly got dressed and head on out to Central Square. The lines were taking up almost half of the ground floor. They hand you their menu while you wait. Good thing, we had priority so it didn’t take that long before we got to the order counter.

We decided to get 3 burgers, 2 cheesy fries and 2 ube shakes to go. They hand you this rectangular buzzer that lights up & vibrates when it's time to pick up your food. It didn't take long (about 15 mins) when I felt the burgers "calling".

They pack everything in a brown paper bag for easy handling. Maybe providing a cover or at least sealing it a bit (especially since I will be walking outside to the car) would be better so that the food would be safe from the elements (such as smoke & dirt). The burgers and fries were too exposed for my liking. 

When we arrived home, we basically skipped up the stairs and excitedly handed one of the paper bags to my husband (luckily our baby girl was still sleeping). We each unwrapped one of the burgers, while our toddler happily waited to see which ones we will be letting him try.

I've had it with those patties piled high with "extenders" (tomatoes, mayo, cheese, cucumbers), leaving you feeling full with no memory of the beef. Sometimes, you just need to sink your teeth into a good-old-fashion burger with less the trimmings.

Here's how no frills this place is; once you step up inside you'll see this takeout window that acts as their order counter. But don't worry, they cook your food as you order so you get them hot off the grill.

After having our fill of their "unique" interiors, our orders arrived.

"Pay What You Want", 4 words that was foreign to any establishment that wishes to turn a profit . Can you imagine leaving the power of pricing to the consumers??? Well, this new food hub by Chef Todd English was brave enough to do just that.

Let me start off by saying that Todd English Food Hall in SM Aura is one of our yummy discoveries. We have our faves that we keep coming back for. Also, a restaurant that highlights burgers & brioche buns? We're so in!

February 9 2016 at 10:15am, there was already a line snaking around the entrance of Pound. The signing in process started at around 10:50am and by that time, a lot of people were already cutting the line. Sigh. 

   

The industrial design that starts from the tunnel entrance continues on inside. The white brick walls & the open kitchen with exposed stainless equipment were a nice touch.

Ask to be seated in the inner section of the restaurant for more privacy. Plush dark brown couches leaning against the walls & large mirrors creates a mood that spells casual yet classy. The sound system blaring out tunes from the 90's completes the nostalgia. That pretty much kept us occupied & had us singing along while waiting for our food. ;)

Walking around the mall one late evening, we soon had the hunger pangs for something new. Hubby was in the mood for something light since it was already past 8pm. Having eaten at almost all the restaurants in Glorietta 5, we were actually left with a few to choose from. 


This caught our eye....

 Hmmm... they had the balls to post this, let's see if they actually deliver on that promise.

With a name like Army Navy, I was hoping to see military memorabilia or knick-knacks. But aside from the numerous road signs plastered all over the walls and the bunker-like order counter, the place in itself was a bit plain. I think it was trying to convey a mess hall kind of set up wherein the tables and chairs were wooden.

Birthday Bash at Chili's Greenhills

To celebrate a friend's birthday, we were invited to have dinner at Chili's Greenhills last Saturday (October 1, 2011).

With it's big chili logo and bright red light, you can't miss it. 
Birthday dinner with friends + alcohol = a hell of a good time! :)

Just in case you forgot where you are, there is a large blackboard that welcomes you to Chili's. Their friendly and attentive staff is right there to greet you and help you to your table. It was 8:30pm on a Saturday night and business was booming!
