Italian Dinner at Capricciosa, Greenbelt 3 Makati

There's no better way to start the week than some family bonding. Travelling from QC to Makati at rush hour is no easy feat. Thanks shobs! :p

Capricciosa, Greenbelt 3

Christmas was really in the air. From the outside to inside, Capricciosa was ready for 'Ol Saint Nick.
While waiting for the food to arrive, took pictures of the place.

A collage of their dishes hung on every wall.

From their light fixtures to the bar decor, everything had their name on it. That's some advertising ploy.

The "splotchy" menu.

Smoked Salmon Spring Rolls (Php 395)
Upon C & L's suggestion, we decided to try this one out. Salmon in spring rolls? Definitely something different. The crunch of the wrapper echoed in every bite. The melted cheese and the splotches of salsa on the ends were divine. Major gripe though was that only 2 out of the 6 spring rolls had salmon. FS Suggestion? Don't forget the Caesar dip. The greens and the large pieces of wrapper were a nice touch.

Lasagna, Capricciosa Style (Php 595)
Yup, this was their lasagna. It may not look like much but this was definitely good. Meaty, hot and fresh were the words running through my head. FS suggestion? Maybe they should spend a bit more time on the presentation. Taste-wise? It was better than expected.

Carbonara Grande (Php 465)
From red to white; we also tried out their carbonara. Serving size is for 2-3 people. They weren't stingy on the bacon bits. FS verdict? This tasted instant, too rustic and too ordinary. FS suggestion? Try sprinkling the chili flakes on top to add a little kick of flavor to this dish. Also, load up on the parmesan cheese.

Quattro Formaggi (Php 395)
And to complete the Italian theme, we ordered pizza as well. Eight slices of blue cheese, cream cheese, mozzarella and parmesan; this should've been a cheesy overload... except it wasn't. It's not that it was bad; it was just not good. Nice try though.

And now for the big question... are we coming back?
Most probably not.
