FS Update: Aside from the fact that they only serve hakaw during the weekends, they also raised the prices. Hakaw is now Php 55 per order. Add the bad service we got from a server named Art, we're definitely bringing our business back to Causeway instead.

Coming straight from a massage session, we were looking for a place to eat. We all voted for dim sum. Of course the first restaurant that came into mind was Causeway. But it was already 11:00pm, all the dim sums would've been sold out when we get there. Someone suggested this new place....

Welcome to King Chef.
A bold name, I must say.

King Chef, Banawe Quezon City |
With it's ample parking lot, you'll have no trouble finding a space for your car. They separate the fine dining from dim sum. Is this becoming the new restaurant trend? Hmmm...
While waiting for the dim sum cart, I pretty much amused myself taking photos of the restaurant's interior. With the open-bar like structure in front, the kitchen window where ducks were hanging on the pegs and the bright lights, this was a stark contrast from Causeway.
Having traversed the busy streets of QC (traffic was a killer!), we were hungry. Wanted to see how King Chef's dim sum fares against Causeway's dim sums. We ordered our favorites. Since everything was fresh off the cart, all dim sums were served hot.
Pork Siomai |
Spareribs |
Chicken Feet |
Hakaw |
Ph43 for an order of Hakaw, first time I heard of this. We had to try this out. Quoting the phrase of the night, "Ultimate deal breaker!" . There were real shrimps wrapped inside the dim sum. A round of applause everyone! And they weren't stingy about it. There was shrimp goodness in every bite. Wow. Can you say, SULIT? :) Haha.
Rice |
Let's be honest here, it's difficult eating dim sum without rice. Their rice comes in individual little pots with lids. Cute. The serving was just right for one. Kudos for that. At least they make sure you get full.
Pork With Century Egg Congee |
And for good measure, we also had their Pork with Century Egg Congee. Verdict? The congee was just okay, a bit refreshing actually. And the serving was good for 2-3 people. thumbs up for that.
Mango Sago |
Of course, it's always good to end the meal with something cold. For dessert, we had their Mango Sago. The sago were cooked okay, not soggy or frozen. I had problems with the mango itself though. It tasted more like mango syrup was used rather than real mangoes, or that the mangoes were diluted in water? I was not really sure about that. What I am sure though is that I was not happy. :(
Thanks! |
Overall, it was a fun & memorable night. Had complaints though. They had a hard time remembering our orders, we had to constantly follow up especially with our take out.
