Texas-Style Eating at Racks, Paseo de Magallanes

Was actually trying to blog about another restaurant but this kept nagging me. I couldn't bear to have others experience the kind of service they offered. With an air of dread here is FS' review for Racks Magallanes.

Racks, Paseo de Magallanes
We always make reservations for the 2nd floor, where it was much roomier and can cater large groups of people. The first thing you notice as you place your order? The waitress is hardly helpful. They just stare at you with dead eyes, no acknowledgment whether they got your order or not. Tsk tsk.

Tables & chairs
The walls are painted white, a bit plain looking. Each table have 2 kinds of barbecue sauce. We were a party of 10, guess how many bottles were available on our table? Yup, we had 2 half-filled bottles to share amongst ourselves. Honestly, I could've let that one go but when we asked for another set of sauces, it took them almost 20 mins to give us one. Seriously?

But hey, let's give them a fair chance. On to the food.

Fried Chicken
The good thing was they served this hot. The chicken was crunchy and juicy, moist with every bite. The fries were tasty as well. Serving is good for 4-5 people.

With a statement like this, we just had to see for ourselves.

Baby Back Ribs
When they placed this on our table, we were actually surprised to see that the ribs were much smaller than we expected. While everyone was getting a share, lo and behold the waitress comes back to tell us that they gave the wrong order! The funny part? There were only 1 other group of people eating, and still they managed to botch our orders up! I'd hate to see what happens in a full house!

We were starting to lose our appetite by this time. Did I tell you that we heard no apology whatsoever? Hay.

Racks Classic Pork Ribs

Our order was actually 2 of this. But, since everyone was already eating we opted to just cancel one and eat the Baby Back Ribs. Racks Classic Pork Ribs easily slides off the bone. "Best ribs in town" might not be an exaggeration. Don't forget the barbecue sauce.

Garlic Bread
They weren't stingy on the spread. It was all evenly coated and toasted perfectly. So good that we had 2 orders of these.

Mac and Cheese
They used the fun twirl-ed type of pasta. You can taste the cheese in every bite. Overall, an okay side dish.

We have been to this branch several times already. Even had a birthday celebration here last year. Yet what was consistent was how poor their serve was. Aside from the fact that they always try to place in more chairs & tables to the point that it overlaps with other diners, they can't even manage to get your orders right. Add the constant table bumping by the servers themselves, you won't believe how frustrating it is to eat here! Tsk tsk.

So I say, KUDOS to the food.
BOO to the service.
And I think we're coming to the point where the good food no longer compensates for the kind of service they offer.

SERVICE: - Eat at your own risk!

TASTE: - Their ribs are good eating!

VALUE FOR YOUR MONEY: - Perfect for group eating.
