Snack Bites at Cafe Via Mare, Greenbelt 3 Makati

This is a follow up to the Li Li Lunch post.

After watching the Wizard of Oz play, everyone in the group decided to have a late snack (merienda in short). With the hot & balmy weather, we wanted something simple and light.

After much debate, it was decided that Cafe Via Mare was the way to go.

Being newbies to their merienda menu, we left the reins in the capable hands of  the regulars (K & C)

With the wicker-looking chair design, blue cushions and blue-green tables, they seemed to be going for the comfy-simple style.... and succeeding.

So without further ado, here's what we had that afternoon.

Arroz Caldo with Chicken (Php 180)
This was served hot & steaming. Serving is good for 2-3 people. Liked the fact that the rice wasn't soggy; texture had just the right consistency. FS Recommendation? Load up on calamansi. It gives it that citrus-y kick that this dish needed.

Palitaw (Php 45)
I'm sure we had more than 1 order of this. Funny how these rice patties sprinkled with coconut & sugar can bring a smile to my face. This is one of my favorite afternoon treat; Hubby on the other hand was not a fan. This dish practically flew off the plate; everyone just had to have one. Definitely a thumbs up in my book! :)

Crispy Vigan Longganisa (Php 220)
Being the carnivores that we are, we had to have meat... bad idea. This wasn't crispy and the flavor was blah. Oh and did I mention that even the bread was not hot? Sorry Via Mare, it's a miss with this dish.

Guinataang Halo Halo (Php 90)
Ginataan + Halo Halo all rolled into one? The name alone sold it for me. Little did I know that the only halo halo factor in this dish would be the color. Taste-wise? This was okay. It's always good to have something different. Not a fan but nice try though.

Bibingka with Laguna Cheese and Queso de Bola (Php 138)
This was truly the highlight of the meal. Highly recommended from the 2 suki (K & C), this was definitely a keeper. Take a bow Cafe Via Mare; this dish alone made sure we're coming back for more. :) Tasty, sweet and fluffy; just the way we like it. YUM!

A perfect ending to an exciting day. Thanks again K & C & C! :)

SERVICE: - Left a lot to be desired. The waiter was too lazy to refill drinks & did not acknowledge when spoken to.

TASTE: - Now our bibingka go-to-place. :P
