Filipino Eats at Pino Resto Bar, Jupiter Street Makati

11pm, huger struck. We were left with either Subway or David's Tea House.
On the way to another shabu shabu trip, we saw this. Hmmm... looked good & remembered C talking about this place.

Time to try something new! :P

This was actually a 2-in-1 restaurant. Pino is for the carnivores & meat lovers (like us) while Pipino is for the health-conscious (aka vegetarian)

Is it any surprise that we chose Pino? :P

Interiors were white & bright. Each table had a little plant in a pot.

Divided by wooden slats, this was how Pipino looked like. Chalkboard with their specials hung on the walls.

Even though we had the place all to ourselves, the food took quite a long time coming out. Boo!

Buffalo Chicken Skin (Php 145)
You had us at Chicken Skin. :) This was crispy albeit a bit tough to chew and well-coated with the tangy sauce. Serving size is for 2 people. FS Verdict? Quite good! The calories are definitely worth it. FS Recommendation? Dip it in the bleu cheese dressing. It's a bit spicy so be sure to have drinks on hand.

Kare Kareng Bagnet Single (Php 255)
Pino's kare kare had peanuts! Yay! :) The bagoong rice was the perfect pair to the orange goodness. Our main concern was the crispy pork belly, they were overcooked. Also they charge for extra sauce. Happiness level came down a notch. :(

Red Wine Adobong Tadyang Single (Php 245)
Honestly, we couldn't taste the red wine but no worries, this was still good. The meat was soft and flavorful. Another thing we noticed was that there was no mango salsa. Tsk tsk. That's a huge oversight.

It looked like we were happy campers. Good food, great place... but we spoke too soon. The night turned to worse pretty quick when we were paying the bill.

First, it took 20 minutes for them to swipe the credit card. When we asked why it was taking so long, they answered that there was no dial tone & that they went to the burger place (?) to check the phone. What?!

Afterwards, the server brought our card back and just stood there, no explanation whatsoever. We had to ask him what next and that was the only time he informed us that they couldn't solve the dial tone problem so they were asking us to pay in cash.

Sigh. By this time, it felt like they were just making up excuses and just wanted to ask cash for payment.

Attention Pino management, you need to train your staff better. He wasn't even familiar with your menu. He kept on insisting that the Adobo dish was chicken. Tsk tsk.

Sayang Pino, great food sana but your service sucked BIG TIME
Not coming back anytime soon.
