Date Night 2 at Lulu Restaurant, Makati

Planned a dinner date for Thursday night. Was in the mood for something quiet and relaxing for a change. With no traffic on the way over, we made good time.

Lulu, Joya Drive Rockwell
The place gave off a classy vibe so I was expecting stellar service. Was disappointed even before we sat down. The sever wanted to seat us at the corner of the restaurant which kinda turned us off. Even after telling her that we prefer to be seated at the other side of the restaurant, she left us standing while waiting for acknowledgement from someone else in the restaurant.

Correct me if I'm wrong; but I don't think it's that hard to change seats especially since there were only 2 other guests eating at that time.

Corner table

<------- This was where they wanted us to sit.

This was where we wanted to be seated. --------->

See the difference?

Took a picture of their bar while waiting for our food to be served. We got their special meal for two (worth Php 2,926.00)

Wild Mushroom Soup Scented with Tarragon
Was not expecting to see a white streak running across my soup. I'm not sure what they were trying to do but the end result was not appetizing. FS Verdict? It was not wild, there were no mushroom bits in sight nor was there any tarragon flavor. FS Recommendation? Ask for fresh pepper, lots of it.

Organic Mesclun Mandarin Feta and Cashew Salad with Citrus Vinaigrette
First off, the portion was not good for one person; it was less than that. You can count the number of lettuce on one hand. The feta cheese was almost non-existent and the mandarin orange was one slice cut in half. Tsk tsk. The citrus vinaigrette was at least something new.

500g of US Angus Ribeye Steak with Truffle Fries
The highlight of the evening was the steak. This was definitely worth coming back for. Had it grilled to medium well and it came out perfect. Yay! The evening was saved. One gripe though was the truffle fries. They were insisting that this was 2 orders already. Sigh

Jasmine Rice (Php 70)
FS Recommendation? Eat the steak with rice.

Coconut-Infused Creme Brulee
To end the night on a sweet note, they served us their version of Creme Brulee. After cracking the top, the creamy goodness was evident in every spoon full. It wasn't soggy or wet which was just the way Hubby liked it. The coconut shaving were a nice touch.

Are we coming back? Maybe.
The steak was definitely a good eat but the service was terrible.

SERVICE: - It was hard to get the attention of the servers. They get your orders wrong & even asking for gravy takes too long.

TASTE: - The steak is worth the 2.5 stars
