Never Again at Solace Wine & Dine, Arnaiz Street Makati

It's been months since we dined in this restaurant, 3 months to be exact. But even after all our other food stops; sometimes there's just that one restaurant that's quite unforgettable.

I bring you, Solace Wine & Dine at Arnaiz Street Makati.

I'll be honest with you, eating here was enough to make me never buy vouchers from unknown restaurants ever again. Yup, even with a promo, Solace sucked big time! From the food to the service, I was wishing for the nightmare to end quickly & quietly. But alas, that was not to be.

I was hoping for a quiet & romantic dinner with Hubby. Already saw the facade of the place beforehand. It looked classy & fancy so silly me, I bought 2 vouchers. But I won't even bother making another post of the 2nd visit since the experience came from being bad to worst; no improvements whatsoever. So I'm combining all the food of both visit in this post.

Solace Wine & Dine, Arnaiz Street Makatii
Restaurant Entrance
Don't let the place fool you, the elegance ends at the door.

Fixtures
Made reservations and sat on the couches by the window. It was a rainy Saturday, so the view of the street were of cars stuck in traffic.

Menu
They gave us the printed out menu wherein almost all our choices were unavailable. Tsk tsk. How disappointing.

(L-R) With dramatic lighting, Without dramatic lighting
This is Solace's take on Chicken Fingers with a side of Kamote Fries. Hmmm... this was the appetizer for two? Really? This was dry and unflavored.  This dish definitely set the tone for the evening.

Mushroom Soup
Looked like it came straight from the can and guess what, it tasted like one. Bleh! >:s

(L-R) Close up; Actual Size
The tiniest Asian Cesar Salad I've ever seen! Served on a saucer (yup, it all fit inside a saucer); you can count the chopped lettuce in the fingers of one hand. Oh and they brought out their tough-as-nails chicken tenders for another show. Add the specks of parmesan cheese and voila, salad na daw tawag dito according to Solace. I would've laughed if it wasn't so sad.

Beef Salpicao + Cebuano Pork Belly Roast
I was really hoping that the main courses would at least salvage the remaining evening; but alas, this was not so. From the presentation (parang buffet, all in one plate) to the taste (unflavored & too rustic), Solace you are a disappointment.

Beef Salpicao + Crispy Dory in Milk & Lemon Sauce
Hubby got the Beef Salpicao as well and regretted it on the first bite. Mediocre and below average taste.

Soy Dijon Chicken Wings + Crispy Dory in Milk & Lemon Sauce
This was during the 2nd visit. You had me at wings; one piece lang pala. I guess your menu had a typo. Hahaha. FS Verdict? As bad as the other dishes. Hubby stuck with 2 orders of the Dory saying, "I'll just have double serving of their best of the worst".

Bibingka Souffle
Notice the difference between the 2 pictures? The on the left was during our first visit. After ordering dessert, it came out surprisingly fast. Kaya naman pala. First impression? Is this a joke? What the hell is this flat soggy food doing on my table? This is your souffle? The sad part? This IS their souffle.

Now on to the picture on the right. This was the souffle on the next visit. Much better right? Well it better be 'coz we had to wait for an hour for it to come out. Haha. Seriously? The servers didn't even bother giving an explanation on why it took so long or that it would take that long. No one went to our table to tell us what the hell happened to our souffle!! Everyone in the restaurant were almost up to arms waiting for this stupid souffle! Triple thumbs down Solace!!

Ohh... and I'm not even going to start with their iced tea. Depending on your server, sometimes you get the big glass; sometimes you get the small glass. Grabe!

They valued each visit to Php 1185 each; that's a total of Php 2,370 for the 2 visits! Even with the promo price of Php 800, I felt robbed!

If I knew that this was what you were going to serve us then I wouldn't have bothered buying your voucher & just ate at Tajimaya or Lulu's instead.

Tsk tsk. Waste of time and money. Never again Solace. NEVER AGAIN!

FS Advice? STAY AWAY... F-ing FAR AWAY!!!!
