Chinese Monday at Zong, Fort Square Plaza Bonifacio Global City

It's been ages since we've had Chinese so we were happy to learn that in BGC, there was this restaurant getting rave reviews for their Yang Chow. We're always on the lookout for yummy Yang Chow and only a few has made it on our list.

Tonight, we were hoping that Zong would be a new addition.

Zong, The Fort Strip BGC
We made good time (C & L was right behind us) even with the wrong directions given by the staff. Hay.

Table Setting
Simple & plain are the first things that come into mind; none of the usual Asian fixtures or decors. Honestly, the place didn't look Chinese.

Hot and Sour Soup (Php 178)
Saw this on the menu and ordered one right away... and was glad I did! This was a bowl of YUM! Although price was a bit steep for a serving of soup for 1-2 persons only, the taste made it all worth it. Nice one Zong! :9

Crispy Tausi Chicken (Php 298)
Never been a fan of anything tausi but this dish made me see a different light. Liked the slight crunch that it had. FS Verdict? This lightly battered chicken dish was okay; just okay.

Caramelized Pork Loin (Php 348)
By the name alone, this looked like a sugar high waiting to happen. FS Verdict? A bit forgettable actually, no flavor jumped out. Crunchy pork was all I can remember. :(

Singapore Style Fish Fillet (Php 438)
For seafood, we ordered this dish. First impression? Looked a bit rustic and the sauce reminded me of Jufran. The dory was cooked just right. Serving was for 2-3 people. FS Verdict? The dish wasn't worth the price; better order their other dishes instead.

Braised Beef Tapa (Php 388)
Hubby was hesitant to order this one; being that tapa wasn't his thing. But tapa-lover me won him over... and good thing too! Of all the dishes we tried out, this was definitely everyone's favorite. The beef was juicy & flavorful. The garlic bits added to the flavor. Dip this in vinegar and the taste just bursts in the mouth. FS Verdict? Definitely a keeper. Good job Zong. :)

Yang Chow Fried Rice (Php 288)
I'm starting off by saying that this picture does not give it justice; this was HUGE! Serving was for 3-4 people and for that price, this was a pretty sweet deal. Each spoonful was loaded with green onions, chorizo, egg and shrimp. FS Verdict? So good that we had to have it twice! :P Zong's Yang Chow, now on our list! ;9

Mango Sago Cream (Php 128)
This wasn't our first choice but since the Banana Fritters with Honey Glaze wasn't available, the server suggested this one. Ordered 2 two for sharing. FS Verdict? Too sweet; and that's saying something coming from someone who loves anything sweet.

Overall, Zong served up some good-enough-to-go-back-for dishes. One thing that was kinda troubling; the serving plates were exactly the same as the plates being used for eating. Presentation-wise, it would be better if they were different.
