Beyond the Coast at Toastbox Singapore

A follow-up post to the Singapore trip.

After dinner, we were walking around the mall when we saw....
Toastbox, Singapore
This was the first time we were trying Toastbox (planning to try the one here in the Philippines soon). In this particular branch, Toastbox was inside the food court. Here, it's a fastfood type of setting, you line up in front of the counter and place your order and pay upfront. The funny thing was, we were talking in Filipino, deciding what to order when the cashier smiled and said, "Sa inyo po?". Imagine that! :)

Kaya Toast
Of course, we had to have the Kaya Toast. Initial reaction=That's it? It's just 4 slices of toasted bread cut in half. This is what people have been raving about? I could not believe it until I took the first bite. YUMMY! The bread is coated with their own Kaya (pandan flavored coconut jam) with butter. And it comes with your choice of soft or hard-boiled egg. I chose the safer route and got the hard-boiled one. But due to the small serving, we had to get about 5 orders just to feel full.

Coffee/ Kopi

This is by recommendation of our friends. We just had to try it if this was as good as they said it was. A direct quote would be, "Ang tapang, coffee na coffee". Smells delicious and looks creamy. First sip.. ordinary. Second sip.. still ordinary. And we kept waiting & waiting for that "special flavor" but no luck. Next please.

With all the Milo cans displayed on the mantle, we ordered the Milo Dinosaur. Verdict? Absolutely nothing special. In a tall glass, they place tons of ice cubes, water & top it with Milo powder straight from the can and presto! You have your Milo Dinosaur.  And to pay that amount for a drink you can actually make at home? BOO!
