Traffic Stop at Funny Funny, Jupiter Street Makati

It was already 11pm and we were getting hungry. We were stuck in traffic at Jupiter Street Makati. With our stomachs rumbling, this restaurant caught our eye.

Funny Funny, Jupiter Street Makati

Amidst the cars honking, the name brought a smile to our faces. We decided to try out this new place while waiting for the traffic to subside.

As you enter, you'll be faced with an almost-psychedelic-like interior. With the orange walls, checkered floors & large pictures of their best-selling dishes, all you can say is "ang bright naman dito", which I think is the goal of the restaurant. To give off a sense of cheerfulness to its patrons.

Even their menu doesn't let you forget that eating here is fun, so fun they say it twice.

Kang Kong with Garlic
To whet our appetite, they served Kang Kong with garlic. I wasn't really expecting much but the plainness of the dish actually caught me off guard. It was just sauteed vegetable with garlic, nothing more nothing less.

Every rice meal comes with free soup and unlimited rice. Upon recommendation of our waiter and not wanting to be adventurous, we played it safe and ordered the Pork Tenderloin Cutlet. This was the dish featured on menu cover.  Well, it did come out looking almost like it. The pork was crispy and tender but was lacking any sort of flavor, it was basically just breaded pork. The side salad made me lose my appetite just a little bit, the dressing looked like vomit. Tried it, wish I didn't. The saving grace was the sauce, at least it helped to compliment the dish. Call me "mababaw" but I loved the mini grills where the pork pieces were placed. Haha.

Beef Bowl
We also tried the Beef Bowl. This was white rice topped with pieces of beef, carrots, onions, leeks & egg. Even with all these ingredients in the dish, the verdict... forgettable. Presentation? Unappetizing.

Spicy Seafood Ramen

Wanting to beat the cold, rainy weather outside we also had the Spicy Seafood Ramen. The noodles were the instant kind, not freshly made (Atsu Atsu's way better).  The clams and shrimps were tiny & too few. Too spicy for my taste, stay away if you can't handle heat that well. Serving size= good for one. Taste? Ordinary.

Friendly Funny Funny Staff
What stopped me from giving this restaurant the complete thumbs down was the staff. They were friendly and really helpful. Kudos to the staff training.
