After an interview at Makati, we decided to have a late lunch at Glorietta 5. We were deciding between trying out the eat-all-you-can pizza & pasta buffet at Chef D'Angelo or Gilligan's. Rice with sisig won! So we found ourselves at G5 Giligan's.

Giligan's Island Restaurant & Bar at Glorietta 5
Their interior decors are mostly nautical-based. One part of the restaurant even had a showcase of random knick-knacks.
We've been eating here since forever, even ordering take-out so we pretty much knew what food to get already. The menu is pretty much the same as the other grill joints around the Metro (Dencio's, Jay-J's, Gerry's, Congo Grill, etc), but we keep coming back to Giligan's because they are the most consistent with their cooking & servings. And we ♥♥♥ their sisig!
So without much further ado, first up is their Pork Sisig.

Sizzling Pork Sisig |
Nestled on a sizzling plate, the aroma alone is enough to make your mouth water. What makes this different from the other grill places is that instead of the usual soggy texture, their sisig is crunchy with every bite. Even after you've mixed in the hot sauce, soy sauce & calamansi, Giligan's Sisig still retains its crispiness. A solid 2 thumbs up for this one!
We also had the Fried Garlic Chicken.

Fried Garlic Chicken |
Served with their own gravy mixture, their serving is enough for 3 people. Although the cut parts of the chicken are somewhat unrecognizable (urm.. is that a wing or a thigh?). The chicken is tender & cooked all the way through. As for the taste.. it needed something more. A so-so dish.

Kare-Kareng Gulay with Bagoong |
For all Kare-Kare lovers out there, this is the healthy substitute. You can still enjoy the saucy goodness of Kare-Kare but less the meat. The Bok Choy (pechay), string beans (sitaw) & eggplant were not overcooked. One thing though, this didn't have the usual nutty taste that we've all grown to love about Kare-Kare.
|
Bulalo Steak |
Another staple Filipino dish, the Bulalo in steak form. The knife sliced through the meat easily. The beef was soft & tender but lacked flavor. The gravy was a nice touch, it kept the dish from being too dry. Serving it on a hot plate was a good idea too because once the meat gets cold, it becomes hard to cut & chew. The veggies on the side were crisp & added color to the dish. The serving is for sharing, enough for 2 people. Recommendation? Eat while it's hot.
For drinks, we had their Bottomless Iced Tea.
