Dinner Dud at Dencio's, Harborview Square

This is the end of hiatus.. and we're starting off with a BANG! :)

** This is actually a leftover post from last month.**

After going on a "cruise trip", we had dinner at a nearby place. This was our first time to step onto Harborview Square. It was a toss up between Army Navy or Dencio's. Rice with sisig won... again :)

Dencio's, Harborview Square

Take Two with Bamboo

With music blaring from the outside as well as in, the place didn't feel as empty as it looked.

Jungle Fever
While waiting for our orders to arrive, I took pictures. With the orange light fixture (that looked like cocoons), plants all around and bamboos on the sides, it felt quite a bit like you're in a safari adventure. Haha.  Drums nalang, jungle na :)
The Bar

From the fixtures to the bar, it seemed like bright orange was the theme. With tummies rumbling, we waited for our food to arrive.

Krispy Sisig

Of course, no Filipino food trip is complete without sisig. What can I say about Dencio's version? Sadly, a HUGE disappointment. It was burnt and tough to chew, you can even see the BIG onion slices. Tsk tsk. Honestly, with a name like that, we expected crunchy flavorful pork goodness in every spoonful but alas, all we could say was.... Next!

Bulalo
This was a step up from the first dish. The veggies & corn were simmered until soft which was a good sign. The meat was tender and easy to chew. Verdict? Nothing special really, just an ordinary bulalo soup good for 3 people.

Sizzling Chicken A La Gambas
I remembered eating this dish before in another branch & enjoying it immensely. Sadly, Dencio's Harbor view version was certainly disappointing. The sauce was too oily and buttery for my liking. The chicken was not crispy and was not cut into bite-sized pieces. Verdict? A definite pass.

Tortang Talong with Crabmeat
This was surprisingly good. For a simple dish, this was what saved the night. I know it sounds crazy, but talong saved Dencio's from a super bad review from FoodStars. This was soon finished off by everyone on the table. Thumbs up for this.
Turon de Sorbetes
The night ended with something sweet. A scoop of ube ice cream surrounded by 4 turons, this was a sugar high. The bad part was the turon was as cold as the ice cream :( Hay...

And now comes the ultimate question.. Will we be coming back?
A resounding NO seems to be the perfect answer.
.  The Dencio's we remembered tasted way way better than this. What happened?

At least the service was better than the food
