Revisted Review: Buffet101, San Miguel By the Bay

Okay as promised, here's the RR for Buffet 101.
Why? Coz we believe, some things deserve a second chance.... nah!
It's just that Hubby's family decided (against our better judgement) that this was the place to celebrate.

Loved how the dramatic lighting helped in enhancing the place.

Dimsum Section

Dimsum Up Close
We didn't try any dish from this section. We were looking for Peking Duck but no dice.
The dishes displayed didn't look appetizing. A definite pass.

Sushi Section
Of course, we just couldn't resist. Their California Maki's were fresh.
They offered a variety of maki's, just take your pick.

Tempura Station
Notice the empty basket on the far right? That's what people keep coming back for, the Tempura. Yup, people linger closely to this section waiting for the next freshly cooked batch of these breaded shrimps. FS Suggestion? Pile up 'coz this one goes pretty fast. And don't rely on the mini timer, it never moves.

Meat Section
Remember our gripe about their Lamb counting? Surprisingly, they did away with that. Good move I must say. The lamb was cooked okay; it's just that I didn't particularly like the cut (I prefer it butterfly-ed) and the marinade for me tasted a bit weird. The roast beef though was way better. We had it medium well and it was brown on the outside & pink on the inside.

Dessert Section
Having had our fill of meat, we headed towards their dessert section. As with all buffets, their desserts were placed on see thru display cases. Hubby couldn't decide whether to have cake or crepe.

Sweet Shots
Some desserts were placed in shoot glasses for easy eating. With the different colored layers of each one, these were a sight to behold. You can easily see that each one was crafted with care, it's almost a shame to eat them.

Sweet Slices
The cakes were cut into slices, some even smaller than a slice.
You will get your sugar fix here.

Fruits Section
For the health-conscious, fresh fruits were also available as an alternative.

Colored Teas & Yogurt Machine
Hubby noticed that people were coming back with yogurt. After much looking, finally we saw this big machine beside the iced tea section. It was DIY yogurt, much like in Frutti Froyo.

Yogurt Creation
My yogurt creation topped with lots of M & M's and dark chocolate chips.

The Drinks Team
We were back to our old nemesis, the Drinks Section. We proceeded to give our order (Fresh Mango Shake) when... what's this? Polite, cheerful and helpful? Hmm... this was turning out to be a better night than I imagined.

Fresh Mango Shake
We had 3 orders each of this refreshing drink. The waiting staff was also helpful & more efficient. Orders were coming out quickly from the kitchen & being placed on the table still hot. Also no more of the ceaseless chatter about their diners.

So in conclusion, was what we experienced the 2nd time around enough to make us fans of this place? Probably not.

The service did get better but it had nowhere else to go but up anyway. Still it all boils down to food and sadly, FoodStars believes that Buffet101 will not be one of our go-to-eats.

SERVICE: - Up by one star.

TASTE: - Same.

VALUE FOR YOUR MONEY: - Still the same.
