#FoodStarsAtLittleTokyo: A Japanese Afternoon at Seryna Japanese Restaurant, Chino Roces Avenue, Makati City Philippines

It was going to be Japanese for lunch. Seryna's Bento Box meals (which was available only during lunchtime) came highly recommended by one of Hubby's friends. We decided it was time to see what the hype was all about.

Don't let the place fool you. Because of the sheer volume of cars versus the available parking spaces; everyone was being creative that day. Each corner & sidewalk were all used up. It reached the point that they even blocked the entrance to the restaurant.

We arrived at around 1pm and the place was still full to the rafters. Available seats were gobbled up instantly by newcomers. Business was booming.

We had our hearts set on trying out their Sukiyaki Bento Box which was sadly sold out. Left with no choice, we opted to order our second choices.

Bento Boxes comes with soup, salad, appetizer, rice, main dish & dessert. The appetizer that day was breaded tuna and the dessert was watermelon.

Tonkatsu Gozen (Php 380)
I got their Pork Cutlet set. I was still nursing a Tonkatsu hangover (due to Yabu & Santouka last weekend) but I really wanted to try Seryna's version. FS Verdict? Disappointing. At first taste, you see that they used a poor quality cut of pork. It was dry and not even crunchy. :(

Tempura Gozen (Php 380)
This was Hubby's set. There were 2 pieces of shrimp tempura & 3 pieces of breaded bell peppers. It was such a sad sight! Even the side dishes were no help.

The afternoon was fast becoming one of the worst eat outs ever when Hubby took the initiative and decided to order another dish from their A la carte menu.

Wagyu Saikoro Steak (Php 980)
Good thing he did because this dish alone saved the day! The wagyu was perfection! The cubed steak nestled atop a sizzling plate with its sauce dripping over the sides. As you take a bite, the wagyu just melts in your  mouth and all your taste buds scream for more. Take a bow Seryna. You're now on top of our go-to Wagyu list!

We left with happy faces & happy tummies ;9
See you soon Seryna!
