Dim Sum Blowout at Causeway, Banawe Street QC

After a night of our weekly badminton session, it was time to fuel up. Everyone was in the mood for dim sum. It was a question between King Chef or Causeway. It was the chicken feet that sealed the deal. :)

Even at 9:30pm in the evening, the place was packed to the rafters. While waiting for the table, we saw a tarp hanging outside their door. Aside from their dim sum promo of Php45/order for selected items (from 9-12mn), they were offering chicken feet, tao pao & misua soup for only Php 28 each. We couldn't wait to be seated.

Dim Sum  and  then  some..

Famished, we immediately ordered dim sum. Piles & piles of the all-too familiar wooden containers soon filled the table. Armed with chopsticks, we started digging in.

Chicken Feet (Php 28)

This is definitely not for the faint-hearted. Aside from the numerous bones you have to go through just to get a taste of the meat, this is actually quite a messy dish to eat. But after trying chicken feet from other places (King Chef, Yin Ying), Causeway's version seems to be a cut above the rest. The sauce is flavorful and the chicken meat is soft and chewy. The chicken feet of 45 pesos (before the promo) tastes the same as the 28 pesos. That's how real promos should be; same quality for less the price. Double thumbs up!

Misua (Php 28)
Someone at the table ordered this one. First impression? Noodles looked a bit limp and there didn't seem to be any meat or veggies included in the soup. A definite pass for me.

Tao Pao (Php 28)

It was bigger than anyone expected. The filling was okay, you can taste the sausage and egg.  A bit on the dry side but with that price tag, you get your money's worth.

Pork Siomai (Php 45)

Fresh from the dim sum cart, Causeway's version is above average. Hubby ♥♥♥ them. Filled with juicy ground pork in every bite, this was really something we look forward to whenever we go here. Dip it in the chili sauce and you're all set.

Spareribs (Php 45)

Another one of our favorites is the spareribs. The meat is always soft & juicy. FS Suggestion? Just make sure you ask the waiter to choose the ones with less fat.

Yang Chow Fried Rice

Serving of medium is good for 4-5 people. The rice to meat ratio was a bit uneven, only a few bits of meat was present. The yellow color (due to the egg) was certainly eye-catching. As for the taste? Liked King Chef's version better.

In conclusion, if you're looking for yummy & affordable dim sum, Causeway is definitely your best bet.
