R.I.P. :Tea Time Blues at Serenitea, North Greenhills

FS Update: Unfortunately, this Serenitea Branch is now closed. We are now placing this under the R.I.P. category.

While waiting for the rain to subside, we made a quick pit stop at Serenitea, North Greenhills. It seemed strange that it's located inside North Greenhills Village.

First impression? It's a hassle to get to especially if you bring a car. There's no parking space available plus the guards are unhelpful, to the point of being impolite already. Even after informing them that you're just going to be dropped off at Serenitea, they make such a big deal out of the time it takes you to make the U-turn and to get out of the car.

Add to the fact that it was raining really hard and there were areas where there was no roof, these were enough reason for us to turn back. But decided at the last minute to at least give it a chance.

After sprinting to avoid getting soaked, we stood in front of their counter and read their menu. It contained 3 easy steps on how to place your order, much like Happy Lemon.

Step One: Choose your drink & serving size.
Step Two: Pick your sugar level (0% - 100%)
Step Three: Mix in 2 choices of the sinkers (pearls, panacotta, etc)

Being first timers, the staff were helpful and took the time to explain and answer all of our questions regarding the drinks. Thumbs up for the service. After placing your order, they will give you a Serenitea buzzer which makes a sound & vibrates when your drinks are ready. Pretty cool gadget!

Drink: Malttea Large
Sugar Level: 100%
Sinkers: Nata & Panacotta

Honestly, I was not able to taste the malt. It tasted almost like the Royal Milk tea from Bubble Tea. Liked the latter better. The nata were kinda thin and even with the staff's recommendation, I don't think panacotta mixes well with the malttea. Advice? Don't forget to mix in the panacotta.

Drink: Strawberry Milktea Large
Sugar Level: 75%
Sinkers: Panacotta & Egg Tart

You can taste the strawberry in every sip but it definitely lacked any other flavor. The sinkers with the strawberries were okay but it didn't really add anything special to the drink. Disappointed that the tart & panacotta had the same texture and taste. Should've changed one of them to my first choice sinker (pearls) but didn't want to wait 10 mins for it. Overall a refreshing cool drink.

Pika Pika Time
We ordered their Chicken Chops to snack on. They were hot off the stove and coated evenly. The chicken was tender and cooked just right. Verdict? Not much flavor was present. It was almost bordering to being bland. Just another ordinary fried chicken fingers. I suggest adding a dipping sauce.

We were expecting more since people were raving about this particular Tea place but alas, we found it lacking, in so many ways. With the arrogant village guards plus below par taste, sad to say but we won't be coming back again.
